I'm trying to hook up my Panasonic DVD player (model DVD-S29) to a Comcast cable box but have not been successful. My DVD player only has Audio Out connections, with no audio in connections. I...

the cable in should go to the box and cable out from the box to the TV.These should all be coaxial cables correct?Hook up the DVD player to the TV using the red, white, and yellow cables is also correct. In order to watch a DVD,you have to use the input select button on the remote for the TV ONLY to change inputs. If you have a universal remote for the TV and not the original factory remote provided with the TV,you need to use the menu button located on the outside of the TV.I just searched on my flat screen and was unable to find an input select through the menu button. It may not be possible on this TV if you do not have the original remote and if you own a universal. My universal for one of my older TV's is about 7 years old so I do not know if newer ones have an input select option. If they do not,it is most likely due to patents and royalty payments which these cheap remote makers do not want to pay.Anyhow, let me know if this helps.Just comment here and i will get an auto link to your comments.Good luck! Panasonic DVR, loss of TV Guide on-screen program listings

I had the TVGUIDE listing through my GE TV and it came across with a notice that they would no longer be putting out the listings. That was last year and the listing never showed up again. Your DVR may be recording digitally but if you can see it on a analog tv, it is using a analog turner and you will need a converter box to record once everything goes digital.

Most of the digital converter boxes come with a guide built in. I have the Magnavox and the Zenith and they work fine. You will need two converter boxes, one for the DVR and one for the tv, if you want to watch the tv and record a different show at the same time.

I would hook them up by splitting the antenna wire to the tv and the DVR. Then I would use the RCA plugs to connect the DVR to the TV and use the Input setting on the TV when I want to watch the DVR. You will have to set the converter box to the channel that is playing the program you want. The DVR will be set to channel 3 or 4 (whatever channel the converter box is set on to broadcast on) to record on, not the broadcast channel. Make sure the power saver on the converter box is set to off or the converter box will turn off after a couple hours and you will get no picture for the dvr to record on.

The digital signal is being sent over the air usually over UHF channels. It sent digitally but will be picked up by your antenna in the same way it picks up the analog signal thus there is no difference. There is no such thing as a digital antenna, thus a antenna from a Home Depot will work fine. I needed a outdoor antenna but the picture quality is the same as cable. Just make sure the antenna can pick up UHF and VHF signals.

Hope it helps!

LG RH266 setup with freeview tv

Sorry to say no it wont not unless the Tv set manuel says it has a Duel Freeview feed , you have to get another freeview box for the recorder .
besides If you used the freview in the tv 1 , the tv would have to be on when you wanted to record ?. and 2 you couldnt watch another channel whilst recording another .. only 1 tuner ?. also you could only record the program you had on .at the time no timer facility .
People are still used to the Old system of VHs and the fact that all videos had tuners built in so you could watch and record .. It will come and indeed some more modern DVD recorder have freeview built in again sorry but thats the facts , and dont forget if you want the pay per view channels on free view your going to need a tuner with a pay card port ... Regards Vortash

Panasonic DVR, loss of TV Guide on-screen program listings

In our case, Time Warner has dropped the channel TV Guide, it used to be channel 99, but it's not even offered any longer, so it would appear that unless this TV guide info/source is fed to the DMR - DVD by some other method, rather than having to have that specific tv channel, I think we are S. O. L.

I need playback channel for tv to be ch.4 -

Solution 1

How to set the DVD Recorder+VCR’s RF output channel
Turn off the DVD Recorder+VCR, then press and hold
CH (v/V) on the front panel for about five
seconds to change the RF output channel (CH 03 or
CH 04). “RF 03” or “RF 04” appears on the front panel display.

Solution 2

Cable Service With Cable Box
If a cable box is required in your cable system, follow the
instructions shown below. This hookup permits both TV and
DVD Recorder+VCR operation.
To view or record a CATV channel:
1 Tune the TV to the correct video input channel.
2 Set the DVD Recorder+VCR to the output channel of the
cable box using the CH (v / V) or the 0-9 keys on your DVD
Recorder+VCR (e.g., CH3).
3 Select the channel you wish to view on the cable box.

Please rate this a fixya

Dvdrecorder and convertor box

If the clarification request is correct. The only thing i can suggest is. Plug aerial into converter box. plug converter box into TV using either scart or coaxial cable. then connect converter box to dvd recorder using scart or coaxial cable depending on what you used to plug converter box into TV with. Then plug dvd recorder into TV. I don't know if you have to set-up the converter box to start receiving i'm not sure. But try this anyway.
You'd probably have been better off getting a free-view box and your dvd recorder. Because as long as you've got a free-view box you'll always get digital. Hope this helps

Recorder is not showing tv listings

I spoke with Toshiba tech support today (800-631-3811). They have an advanced services team that focuses on TV Guide On Screen. Learned the following:

- The TV Guide On Screen signal is updated 4x / day and is broadcast by your service provider
- The broadcast channel varies depending on what the service provider chooses (though typically a major network or PBS station)
- TV Guide On Screen has been doing some reprogramming and updates recently and this has resulted in many sporadic outages

If you ARE not receiving your listings, it's one of two things - either your DVR or the signal from the cable company.

- If you are having issues, call Toshiba and let them know, they will walk through some basic troubleshooting to narrow down if the problem is the DVR or the TV Guide On Screen signal.
- If the issue is the TV Guide On Screen signal, they will be able to report the issue to TV Guide On Screen and let them know their is an issue.

After that - it's in someone else's hands!

As a replacement for "Dolby Digital DT3 AV cable" can be used a " 3.5mm (mono) to RCA(or coaxal)" Cable.
