Sounds like you having a problem with the defrost board, also check to see if the freeze stat is connected, if not it will not since the coils temp and send a signal to the board to go in defrost and your electric heat strips should kick on if you have them. Depending on what unit you have you be able to which the dip switches to call for defrost at a quicker or longer time depending on the outside temp.

Its 15 degrees outside and my amana unit is off. every so often it kicks on by itself and runs for about 10 seconds then shuts off again. while it is running the control panel flashes FP, what is it trying...

I was wondering the same thing about our unit until I found the specs online and read that it has freeze protection. When the temp goes below 40 degrees, the fan comes on to prevent damage to the unit.

My 2002 s type jaguar doesn't heat. the fans

Probably the heater control valve, had same issue, started with one side not hot, then erratic, hot then cold while heat is set to hot, now both side are cold to lukewarm. diagnosed as heater control valve, common for jag s-types and x-types. located on the passenger side, down low the side of the radiator, it has several hoses into and out of valve, and a electrical connector.

The frizer outside is very hot. kenmore model 71192107 year7/02

The condensor coils run around , up , down , the sides of the freezer . This heat is the heat being pulled OUT of the inside , which makes the freezer cold . Freon (refrigerant) attracts heat , which causes the frost in refrigeration . But , the heat has to dissapate , otherwise , hot gas would pump thru the system , and , no cool . A freezer does not get cold , Heat is pulled out , causing food to freeze . So , hot is good .

Maytag freezer don't freeze food or make ice

There could be several things causing the frig to be cold but not cold enough. First check thermostat control and air control. Both should be set in the middle setting for normal operation.Next check to see if evaporater fan is running in freezer. It should be running whenever compressor runs and circulates cold air inside frig as well as freezer. Next check if condensor fan motor is running. It blows air over condensor coils to remove heat. Last ,check condensor itself for dirty coils. If they are matted up with hair dust, etc. it will cause poor cooling. you can give thorough cleaning with vacuum cleaner. Hope this helps

Central heat and air freezing up

It is not freezing because it's cold outside,It is freezing due to a problem.
It needs to thawed before it will work,

1st:Check or change the filter if need be.
2nd:Make sure none of the vents are blocked off(especially the return)
3rd:The only way to thaw it when temps are low outside, without being out in the weather is to turn on the air conditioner,You will need to use other means to heat your home until it thaws.

and Please if you use the stove for heating, don't fall asleep with it on.

Check and clean the condenser coils where heat is transfered to the room air. If they are plugged with dust it will cause your problem. Check the back wall of the freezer for snow. If snow is on the back wall you have a defrost system problem.
