Re: Removing the upper fuser roller assemble.

Dear Archman50,

Thx u for answering me quickly. I was trying to describe to u those 2 black legs or u can say supports for that big part where u put the paper on the glass and it opens at one end to either replace the Toner Cartriage or clear a paper jam. Its has springs inside those 2 black legs or supports. At this point, i need a shorter philips screw drivers and yes i am going to take my time on this project. Also, do i need to put any kind of lubicate on the gears. I found a Manual for this Machine and they are selling it for $12

write me back.
thx u.

    Hello again archman50,

And good morning. Well, I finally took off the top part of the copier and removing the fuser assemble, lots of little screws too. Now, I am working on the fuser assemble and and more screws had to come out. I got the upper and lower fusers out but i had a hard time with the one side that had all the gears. also, i carefully took out the fuser lamp at the ceramic end of it and put it in a safe place until i get to that part. I wish i could speak to u by phone for any assistance I may have a hard time getting in back all the pieces without damaging anything but yet i am taking my time, no rush at all.

    write me back. thx u.

You do not need a lot of lubricant on the gears if you do any just take your finger and dip into vasoline(petroleum jelly and dab a little bit on too much grease attracts dirt wipe any excess with a cloth

Maybe you have problems with the upper fuser roller, open the back door and try to see the upper fuser roller and lower pressure roller if you see any wrinkles or damage in any of the rollers that's is the problem, you can replace them just the upper fuser roller and the lower pressure roller but it will need advanced skills, the other option is change all fuser assembly but at higher price

The printer make noise while it is printing

Hewlett Packard P3005 Fuser

Its all about the gears in the fuser drive assembly and the bushing in the fuser.

The HP P3005 fuser is located at the back of the printer.

The fuser has a thin film upper roller which can be torn, some symptons can be "Wrinkled Pages","Poor Fusing", "Toner Rubs Off the Page", "Pieces of black Plastic Come Out".

*** The printer should be unplugged from any power source before any servicing is performed ***

The rear cover can be taken off by removing 2 screws. Once the cover has been removed the fuser can be removed by taking out 4 screws and 3 electrical connections.

My HP Laserjet P3005 is almost 2 years old and needs a new fuser assembly. Is this normal? How much should this cost? Would I be better off buying a new printer

The fuser is suppose to last up to 200,000 pages, however they rarely get that far.

Re: Removing the upper fuser roller assemble.

I am not sure what the black legs do but they problably support the heater lamps....if there is a wire going to the legs then the black legs need to be removed. the key is to d isassemble any drive chains, brackets etc that support the fuser rollers the black legs could also be support for stripper fingers

just dissasemble all components holdng the fuser roller from both sides

best of luck

Upper (gray) fuser roller needs replacing, (tear on 1 side).

If you are handy it is not hard to replace the upper fuser roller you will need a small phillips screwdriver and pliars

the fuser lamp goes through the fuser roler so youmust disconnect the power leads to the lamp and remove the lamp

You do have to release the back side of the drive
gear on the fuser roller

when you install the new roller be sure to put some silicone fuser oil on the cleaning pad

take your time good luck

HP Laserjet 4100 series , paper jam output tray.( on top of the printer ). The roller under the topcover is turning the wrong way. The paper can't get out of the printer, and jams between the upper roller...

Hi F_bulsara,
First thing to try is to flip the paper over in the input tray. There are 2 sides to paper. One side may curl a bit too much due to heat of the fuser and get caught near the output rollers.

Unless the Output Assembly was assembled wrong, it is impossible for the rollers to turn the wrong way. The gear in the fuser drives the output assembly. The top rollers are rolling out.
If the rollers are not rolling, then one of the gears must be broken or missing. The output rolllers might need cleaning.

Next check the fuser unit. Disconnect power to printer and turn printer round. Remove the back output tray and the two small covers (left and right). Undo the 2 screws that hold the fuser in place. Pull the fuser out. Check the gears on side of the fuser. A broken gear in the fuser could cause this problem.
