One of the easiest ways to find out would be to go to WWW.support.dell.com and enter the service tag of the computer. the service tag should be on the bottom of the laptop on a label and will be 6 or 7 letters and numbers. On the support page, click on Product Support and then on System Configuration. You can then enter the service tag number and you see the original configuration of the laptop. Scroll down the list looking for a wireless adapter.
works.
Hope this helps. Let me know how it

You do not have a physical switch for the wireless. You can turn it on and off through the Dell Wireless Utility.

I have a "Dell, Inspiron 8100" that is not wireless capable. I was wondering which external wireless card will make this computer able to receive and process a wireless signal.

For PCI adapters, I go with TrendNet. I would recommend a USB adapter though. They come in all shapes and sizes, but they all pretty much do the same thing. Here is a link to a ton of them:

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Wireless internet

you need to get a PCI Wireless card or a USB Wireless adapter, if you are talking about an 802.11 wireless router.

If you are talking about Sprint wireless Broadband or the link (WWAN service) you'll need a USB WWAN adapter which are available by all major Wireless vendors (Verizon, Sprint, ATT etc(

You can install a wireless card internally in an available PCI slot, or externally using a USB port, your choice. Just make sure that the USB adapter type matches the router type
