But the problem is still there. HP Monitor w 1707 itself is not detected by windows xp. That is problem for the audio. If that is

My microphone and headphone are quite. I went to check it from VOLUME CONTROL SECTION than click on properties and than went to Mixer device where I found two devices names are as follow 1) CONEXANT AUDIO....

Go to the HP website, choose your type of operation system, download the audio drivers and install: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?lang=lv&cc=lv&prodNameId=316722&taskId=135&prodTypeId=12454&prodSeriesId=316720&lang=lv&cc=lv
If some drivers are still missing you can check them by looking inside the Device Manager: press WinKey+Pause > Hardware tab > Device manager
If you still experience problems, follow these steps: 1) If you have an original CD of your computer, motherboard, or audio card, insert the CD and install the driver from it. 2) Or alternatively insert the CD and go to: Start > Settings > Control Panel > Performance and Maintenance > System > Hardware > Device Manager, find any unidentified device in the list, or expand the "Sound, video and game controllers" branch, identify the Audio card > Right click > Update driver... > Install the software automatically > Next
3) Or alternatively download and install a free driver updater software, e.g. http://www.innovative-sol.com/drivermax/index.htm - let it scan and update all your missing drivers.
P.S. These steps mentioned above are for Windows XP, but will be quite similar on other Windows versions, too.

My computer no longer "sees"

hello
at end of this instruction set, see link to review more questions/answers,as your issue with CD/DVD ROM will vary .

This document applies to HP and Compaq desktop computers with Windows XP, Me, and 98. Use this document to make Windows and the CD writing software recognize the CD or DVD writer drive. Start at Step 1; do not skip to other sections until Step 1 has been completed. Step 1: Does Windows detect the CD or DVD drive? Use Device Manager to determine if Windows is recognizing the drive:
  1. In Windows XP, click Start , and right-click My Computer . In Windows 98 and Me, right-click the My Computer icon on the desktop.
  2. In Windows XP, select Properties , click the Hardware tab, and then click the Device Manager button. In Windows 98 and Me, select Properties , and click the Device Manager tab.
  3. Click the plus sign (+ ) next to DVD/CD-ROM Drives (or similar) category.
  4. Do the following depending on what is listed in the DVD/CD-ROM drives category:
    • If the CD or DVD drive name is missing , the drive is not being detected by Windows. Close Device Manager and skip to the section CD or DVD drive is not recognized by Windows .
    • If a drive name is shown but is disabled (icon is marked with a red X, c00877300.gif ), the drive has been disabled. Right-click the drive name and select Enable . You may have to restart the computer to complete the enabling process. The drive should work correctly once it has been enabled. NOTE: If the drive cannot be enabled, a required service or driver that the drive needs is not functioning or has been disabled. Click the plus sign next to IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers and troubleshoot any problems found according to any error codes in Device Manager. Resetting the BIOS may also resolve this problem.
    • If a drive name is shown but contains an alert icon (an icon marked with an alert symbol, c00877301.gif ), then use the section Using Device Manager error codes to troubleshoot the problem. You may also use the next section Disc burning software does not recognize the original drive to reset the drive configuration.
    • If the CD or DVD drive is listed as normal but your disc burning software does not recognize the drive, Device Manager shows no special icons c00877302.gif . Windows is detecting the drive but the writing software does not. Leave Device Manager open and continue with the next section Disc burning software does not recognize the original drive .

I have a Dell 530 S Dell Inspiron. Its Webcam has stopped working. Any solutions

The very first step is of course to check your web cam connection. Most web cams use the USB port to connect to the PC, so check if your USB cable is properly plugged. For build-in web cams this steps does of course not apply. Many new laptops have a build-in web cam. Also try connecting your web cam directly to your PC instead of through a USB hub (if you are using one).

The next thing is to do is to check your Windows Device Manager and see if the hardware is recognized and installed properly.

It might be that the hardware is recognized as a camera, but the right drivers are not installed. The yellow explanation mark will indicate a problem.
Other devices in Windows XP device manager

If the device is not recognized in Windows XP, Right-click the device, and in the pop up menu select Update Driver Software. Then follow the instructions on screen, but make sure you allow Windows to search the web for updated drivers.

In case no driver for the web cam can be found, you can try a third party driver finding program that scans your PC for installed hardware and allows you to install missing drivers.

If this fails, the next step would be to un install the software that came with your web cam. Use the Add or Remove Programs feature in the Control Panel. If that does not work you can use a third party un installer.

After un installing the software, restart your PC and then reinstall the web cam software. In most cases this will solve the problems. Depending on the software, you might need to unplug your web cam during the software installation. If your problem is not fixed then you have to buy a new one.

Hope the above information will be helpful to you.
Thanks.

Missing Multimedia Audio Controller (device manager) I'm running windows xp ver 5.1 sp2 Compaq 0804h motherboard Need a Multimedia Audio Controller for Evo Compaq d310 PC Microtower

Best place to look is the Compaq website. If you cannot find it there, you could try using a driver finder program to locate the right driver for your sound card. Those programs will identify the hardware by device id and use that together with the Windows info to get a matching driver.

Xp or linux couldnot load in my laptop

I've successfully installed XP SP3 on a DV5Z (custom build). Here is what I did, you will need to check that your DV5Z has the same components before using these drivers.

Step 1 Create an XP boot disc
Get the AMD motherboard/SATA drivers slipstreamed into an XP SP2 installation disk. I use NLite for this from http://www.nliteos.com

Drivers are available at:
http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/Motherboard/Driver_DownloadFile.aspx?FileType=Driver&FileID=3517

Other forum posts have more information on how to create the disc but I found NLite pretty easy to use. I suggest slipstreaming the SP2 patch into your installation disc.

Step 2 Install XP
Install XP from a Bootable disc you created using NLite. Get XP working and upgrade to SP2 if your installation disc wasn't already SP2.

You should see all the devices now in Device Manager in XP, but with exclamation marks.

Step 3 Get the XP drivers/software
The HP Compaq 6735s shares many components so you can get many drivers from this link:

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=3687622&prodTypeId=321957&prodSeriesId=368762
1&swLang=8&taskId=135&swEnvOID=1093

Audio UAA bus driver sp33867 Install this before upgrading to XP SP3
HP Software update sp38874
Synaptics touchpad sp39032
Wireless assistant sp39374
Quicklaunch 6.40F1 sp39425
XP SP2 updates sp39429 I guess these will be in XP SP3
Driveguard software sp39602
Webcam driver sp39606
Driveguard driver sp39738
AMD CPU driver sp40535
AMD SATA driver sp39719

The following is on other laptop models but you can just search for it manually or use the following link:

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=US&swItem=ob-62438-1&prodTypeId=321957&prodSeriesId=3687621

Audio IDT driver sp39671

Drivers from other sites:

1) Realtek Ethernet driver
http://www.realtek.com/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=13&PFid=5&Level=5&Conn=4&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false

If the link doesn't work you want the PCI Express versions fromhttp://www.realtek.com

2) AMD Dual-Core Optimizer
http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/TechnicalResources/0,,30_182_871_14098,00.html
If the link doesn't work look around on http://www.amd.com

3) ENE CIR driver version 1.3.306
http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/Other-DRIVERS-TOOLS/Others/MSI-GX600-08-ENE-CIR-Driver-133060.shtml
I found that the 1.3.306 Vista driver works fine on XP but newer Vista drivers do not. I couldn't find an XP driver

4) Atheros Wifi AR5008 driver
http://www.atheros.cz/

5) Realtek Card Reader
http://www.realtek.com/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=15&PFid=25&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false

If the link doesn't work look around on http://www.realtek.com

6) ATI graphics
Get these from http://www.ati.com you need to get the Integrated chipset version if you have HD3200 graphics.

7) Realtek Audio Codec
http://www.realtek.com/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=14&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false

I installed both the ATI HDMI Audio device and the Windows XP driver, you may only need the ATI HDMI.

Step 4 Installation
Install the drivers first (after devices have been detected), then the software. You will need to force install some of the drivers by going through Device Manager but most of the drivers have installation programs. CANCEL ANY DETECT HARDWARE DIALOG BOXES TO AVOID AUTO-INSTALLING THE WRONG VERSION OF A DRIVER.

You will also need to carry out a registry fix for the wireless LED. Copied from another post:

"For the Wireless LED its a little trickier. If you can find the root directory for your wireless network adapter like Paddy MacSeamus mentioned above its pretty simple. Follow his directions until you find your Wireless Network Adapter listed next to DriverDesc. In that same directory, i.e., 0003, add these Dword values just like you did above:
New-> Dword
Value Name=gpioFunc0ActHi and Value Data=0
Click Ok.
New-> Dword
Value Name=gpioPinFunc0 and Value Data=3
You are done. These values should be seen in the same window as DriverDesc and the name of your Wireless Network Adapter. The LED will work correctly after you disable and re-enable your wireless."

After doing all this, my DV5Z works correctly except for the following:

- Mute button LED always on orange
- No on-screen display of volume/mute etc. You can use Microsoft Intellitype (use the Digital Keyboard device and download this) instead of the HP software - see other forum posts if you need more info on where to find this
- QuickPlay key doesn't work. Presumably this can be fixed by installing the QuickPlay software for another notebook eg DV6000 series but I've not tried this

One final thing - I was given incorrect SP details by an HP person on an online chat session and told to refer to manufacturer websites for other drivers. The latter is incompetent but acceptable in my view, whereas the former is clearly unacceptable (why give out incorrect details on their own drivers and pretend they're doing me a favour?).

Good luck!

Problem with dvd/cd ram does not detected cd

CD Recording software that comes with HP and Compaq computers is made to recognize only the original CD and DVD drives. If a new CD or DVD writable drive was added, use the software that came with the drive or purchase and use new CD writing software. If you are using Windows XP, you can use Windows XP itself to create CDs (not DVDs). CD or DVD drive is not recognized by Windows If the drive is missing in Windows, remove all connected USB, firewire, and parallel devices and perform the following steps to enable the drive in Windows: Step 1: Checking for CD/DVD drive in BIOS Make sure the drive appears in Setup. The drive has to be detected in the Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) before Windows can see the drive. Check for detection as follows:
  1. Turn on the PC. When the first logo screen appears, press the F1 key repeatedly until the BIOS Setup screen appears (on some models this key press may be different, F2 or Del )
  2. Press the F5 key, and then press the Enter key to reset the BIOS to the defaults.
  3. Use the Left and Right Arrow keys to select Main .
  4. The hardware-identifying name should appear next to Secondary Master, Secondary Slave, or Primary Slave.
