Sony Vaio FX-410 BIOS Password

I have been going through the worst time trying to find a decent soulution to finding away around the BIOS password on the Sony Vaio FX-410 that I recently bought at a yard sale. I have tried taking out the CMOS battery for as long as a week, I have tried the reset button on the bottom of the laptop, I cannot find any "jumpers" on the motherboard that are supposed to reset the BIOS to factory defaults, I have tried calling Sony for the master password but they have terrible customer service, and I have tried a list of reported master passwords. The motherboard model is "Phoenix 4.0 release 6.0". Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I have heard of such a thing but am not sure where to put the screwdriver, paperclip, etc. to make sure I get a good connection to short it out. Will I hear a click or anything?

Have you tried shorting the battery terminals on the cmos battery holder while it was out?

If you are unsure of where to short out the battery contacts, just remove the battery and leave the battery out for 1/2+ hours or more, and the insert the battery again and the BIOS will be reset to the default settings.

Leaving the battery out has the same result as shorting shorting the contacts except you can insert the battery straight away instead of waiting 1/2+ hours for the same result.

NO click and no spark,no shock. Only very low voltage. Their is only two contacts points on the battery holder one for the center of the battery and one for the side. Touch the paper clip to the two points.

Laptop SONY VAIO VPCEB32FM: how to remove BIOS password

The BIOS password is probably the Power On Password.
This method may not work. Remove the BIOS battery for 20 mins until the charge in the BIOS is depleted. Insert the BIOS battery go into the BIOS setting and set the Date and Time etc.
If this does nor work then the BIOS password is stored on an EEPROM chip and removing the BIOS battery won't work and there is probable no backdoor passwords.
The Sony support maybe able to offer a solution, check the support WEB site..

I have a sony vaio VGN-N250E laptop that I need a ONE TIME PASSWORD to unlock the ios......please help

Unlike desktop computers, they rarely make it so that you can delete or reset your BIOS password in a laptop. To do this usually requires an IC chip to be removed from your motherboard and then replaced. If you can find someone to do this, then it will most likely cost $150 or more. There are some who claim to have a Break or Work-around for removing bios passwords. I've very rarely had this work for me. Here's a link to a web page that puts it into steps to follow that you could try. Click here.

You could try removing the cmos battery for a few minutes and letting it reset your bios. Not sure if you feel comfortable enough messing arounnd on the motherboard though.

Open your CPU cabinet after switching OFF the power and then try to locate the CPU battery which can be found very easily. Once you locate your battery you need to remove it once and restart your PC without the battery.

Sony vaio VGN FJ290P password reset sony vaio VGN FJ290P

I have set the password for administrator when i entered the bios set up. you can change its setting but not the configuration unless you've entered the password. you can't change the password with a new one if you cant enter the old password. Next time dont forget your password because laptops has its security even when stolen you cant open its bios set up if its protected by password. CMOS battery is in the mother board. You need a service technician to open your laptop to reset the bios setup battery.
