Its about 2 years since a used my inspiron 8500. I completely forgotten the password. Please help

First I would try logging onto the the pc with a Username of administrator and blank password. There is probably a default password for these but I don't know what that would be.
The next way requires you have a CD writer, blank CD and another pc to create it from but this is something I have used in the past.
You need to unzip the file and burn it as a CD image file to the CD - most burning programs should know what an ISO file is to burn it as an image of the original CD.
Let me know if you need more help with getting that sorted. but once you have the CD reboot the PC with the CD in the drive and it will boot into a text based Linux. you need to accept the defaults most of the way through this - it ask questions you may not know the answer to so you can just hit enter to continue.
Then you wil come to a section at the end about the user login accounts where you can set the administrator login to blank or other logins. Have a go and get back to me if you need me. and don't forget to rate my solution if you want!

  • Access the Internet from another computer that has a CD burner installed. If you have other user accounts on the main computer, you can attempt to log in to those accounts just to get to the Internet.
  • Step 2 Download Ophcrack, a highly rated free password cracker for Windows. The website has been included in the References section at the end of this article. For easy access, download the file to the computer's Desktop. You will be downloading the ISO image of the program which can be burned onto a blank CD-R.
  • Step 3 Insert the blank CD-R CD. Select the ISO image of Ophcrack that you just downloaded, and right click on the item. Select 'Burn' from the drop down menu. If a burn program opens, click Burn Disc to burn the program to the CD-R.
  • Step 4 Remove the burned disc, and go back to the original computer that you are locked out of. Turn on the computer, and immediately insert the disc into the CD-ROM drive.
This will allow the computer to boot from the CD-ROM. You may be prompted in DOS to boot from the CD-ROM, select "Yes."
  • Step 5 Allow Ophcrack to run; it will run automatically and display the administrator and user password on the screen as it recovers them. Write down the passwords, and wait for the program to finish.
  • Step 6 Remove the burned disc, and restart the computer. Allow the computer to load to the sign in screen, and enter the newly recovered password. You should have full access to your Administrator account once again.

How do I download music onto a cd?

You will have to download the music files (MP3's) onto your local computer's hard drive first. Then using your preferred burning software, insert a CD-R or CD+R depending on your CD drive (burner). It may be dual format and burn both, but you need to use the proper CDs to burn otherwise you will get errors and they won't burn, and then follow the instructions pursuant to your burning software. I hope this helps and good luck!

Its a common problem with CDs. Check that your CD drive can PLAY CDs. If so either the CD drives optical head is dirty or your CD pack are low quality. CDs damage real easy. Try putting another CD, another brand or you must use CD doctor-something like that. Did that help
