Try restoring the computer to an earlier date and see if that works first.

Problem getting recovery disk

I understand that you want to reinstall the Operating System on the computer. Select models have the ability to have the operating system reinstalled from a hidden drive built into the computer. To start the system recovery:
  1. Restart the computer
  2. When the eMachines logo appears on the screen, press the Alt and F10 keys repeatedly.
  3. When prompted with a boot screen, hit the Enter key.
  4. After the system recovery program has loaded, follow the prompts to reinstall the operating system.
If the ability to reinstall from the previous method is not available or fails during the recovery, recovery of the operating system will need to be from Recovery Media.
  1. Insert the disk labeled System CD into the computer's disk drive and restart the computer.
  2. When the eMachines logo appears on the screen, press the F12 key repeatedly.
  3. Select either CDROM or DVD as the boot device, this may vary depending on the system.
  4. When prompted for the Recovery CD, remove the System CD and insert the Recovery CD.
  5. Note: If there are multiple Recovery CDs, please insert the first Recovery CD.
  6. After the system recovery program has loaded follow the prompts to reinstall the operating system.

Refer the URL for more information and for the link to order the Recovery media if required.

How can an xp, window7, window8 desktop computer communicate with an IBM 6262 T12 printer

Hey Jerry,
In order for your printer to work with each operating system you will need to install a Printer driver for each Operating System for the printer to work. Check IBM website for the drivers or search the internet to see if you can find drivers for this printer for each OS listed.

Turn off safemode

Remove any DVDs or CDs from the optical drives and then unplug all peripheral devices except for the keyboard and mouse.
Click the "Windows" button and then type "eMachines recovery management" into the search box.
Click on "eMachines recovery management" in the results list and then click the "Restore" tab.
Click "Password Settings" and then type a new password into the text box.
Click "OK" and then click "Restore System to Factory Default".
Type the recovery password into the "Password" text box and then click "OK".
Click "Next" To start the recovery process.
Click "Finish" and then wait for your computer to restart.
This procedure could take several minutes.
Once your computer has restarted, you'll be prompted to create a new user account, enter the date and time and set up the internet settings.

or if you are running XP
If you set your machine back to eMachines factory settings, it might help you for a short while but if you don't have effective virus protection your problems will return in short order.

You should get rid of this virus with an effective virus remover.

You can run Bitdefender's free online scan which doesn't need to be downloaded http://www.bitdefender.com/scan8/ie.html

If you know when you got the virus, you can do a system restore to a time before the virus was on your system.

This article tells you how to run it from safe mode http://bertk.mvps.org/html/safemode.html

Your best protection in general is a complete internet security suite such as Bitdefender or Norton internet security 2009.

More information here http://www.ask-the-computer-doc.com/comp...

If you need to totally rebuild your system and you don't have a recovery disk, contact eMachines to get one.

You might also try a Windows repair install if you have the operating system disk.

Windows vista recovery cd I created won't install on new hard drive

Which software did you use to create the recovery disk? Is the recovery disk a CD or DVD?

Just to recover a vista system from recovery DVDs would require at least two DVDs. Your files would be in addition to this so I would be very surprised if you have only a single disk containing both the operating system and all of your files.

A simple recovery disk would only be useful for restoring lost operating system files to a hard disk that had corrupted or deleted files. It would let you restore to a new blank disk.

If the disk only contains a backup of your data then you would need to first install an operating system (Vista or Windows 7) and then install the backup software you used to create the disk and then you could recover your data from the disk.

I have a dell Vostro 430a mini tower with NO video/no HDD.Dell suppoert says There is NO onboard video support on this motherboard(even though it has a DVI connection on the board). It has the stock 51

Dell now allows users to order a set of recovery disks to perform a system restore of their computer. Users can only do this once, so if you need a set of disks shipped to you from Dell, be sure you keep them in a safe place, as this is the only time you will be able to send away for them.

Before You Order Dell Recovery Disks
There are a couple of things you'll need to do before you order Dell recovery disks depending on the age of your computer. If you get the recovery disks, you might want to go to the Dell Drivers and Downloads page to make sure you have the very latest drivers for your computer, as the recovery disks you get might not contain the latest updates.

HERE is the order page.

My computer has crashed and I need a recovery cd to restore the system. Is there anywhere to download the recovery?

You can go here:

http://www.emachines.com/support/drivers.html

Enter your serial number, model and make of computer and find all the files that your computer came with originally. You may need to burn them to a disk using another computer. You can also order new recover disks from them.

Good luck!

I have a hp pavilion pc and it says boot disk failure please insert disk and press enter

Hi,

Turn the computer off and then disconnect all the external devices like (printer, usb devices etc)connected to the computer along with the cable for the internet .Then disconnect the cable for power that would be right on top at the back panel of the computer tower and with the power cable disconencted press and hold the power button for atleast 30 seconds.Turn the computer on if it takes you to the desktop then it means that there is some external device that is causing the computer not to come up to the desktop so find which deveice has gone bad check it by conecting one device at a time.

Next thing that you can try is turn the computer off and then when you turn the computer on or as soon as you press the power button to turn the computer on start tapping the F8 key repeatedly until you get a black screen that says advance boot menu option .Then used the arrow keys on the keyboard and then hit enter, select the operating system and then when you get the log on screen select administrator .If it takes you to the desktop then you can try doing a restore by going to start?all programs ?accessories?system tools and then system restore ? select the date when you think that you r computer was working fine and then click on next next to exit from the wizard.Should fix the issue .

If the computer does not boot up to the desktop then without wasting time on any trobleshooting steps recovery needs to be done that takes the computer back to its original factory settings. To do this instead of the f8 key tap the f11 key till you get the screen that says system recovery ,click next until you get the screen that has advance option ?click on it ?select destructive recovery ?click next the recovery will start and the computer will be formated (whatever you have added after you bought the computer would be lost) ?If the recovery does not work this was then it needs to be done from the recovery disks and fot that you call call HP...

all the best

Computer virus ruined my tower, hp pavillion s7320n, prod. #:EP140AA. I need a recovery disk? Drivers disk? And a lot of technical help. Marco

If you are not able to create a set of recovery discs, you may be able to order a set of replacement discs from HP. HP maintains a stock of replacement recovery discs for several years after the product has been released. However, because of licensing restrictions, HP is only able to provide these recovery discs for a limited time. If your computer is several years past its warranty period, HP may not be able to supply replacement discs for your computer. If this is the case, you can install a new operating system that meets the minimum system requirements of your computer, or, alternatively, upgrade your computer hardware. To find out if HP has recovery discs that you can order and to order them from HP, use the following steps:
NOTE: The steps in this section apply to United States and Canada . For Europe, Middle East, and Africa please refer to the HP support document Europe, Middle East, and Africa - Statement on the Availability of the Recovery Software on CD . For other countries/regions, contact your local HP support center for information about obtaining recovery CDs.
  1. Go to the Software & Driver Downloads page .
  2. Enter the product number or model name for your computer into the field provided. Figure 1: Product name/number field c00772934.gif
  3. Click the operating system link (the version of Windows that came with your computer). Figure 2: Example of operating system link c00772003.gif
  4. Find the Recovery Disc ordering section and click the link to start the ordering process.
NOTE: Before trying to order, make sure that you have read the important "Read this..." information listed in this Recover Disc ordering section.
NOTE: If the link to order a recovery disc set is not available , there may not be any more sets available for purchase. HP cannot create recovery discs that contain a version of Windows that has been obsoleted by Microsoft, such as Windows 95, 98, and Me. Some recovery disc sets may have run out of stock and may not be available to order. Figure 3: Recovery disc ordering links c00772004.gif
  5. Follow the directions from the "Read this.." article and from the ordering pages to complete the ordering process.

Thanks. Please take a moment to rate this as FixYa.
    Thank you.
