Question about Fantech AEV1000 Air Exchanger 120 cfm

1 Answer

I have central air and heat(the unit is about 8 yrs old)..when my heat kicks off there is still extremly cold air continually coming through the vents as if there is still a fan going, but it's not from the outside unit ..there is another unit of some sort located adjacent to the outside unit located under my home...I read about air to air exchangers which I am assuming is what that unit is..not sure though ,but as I said earlier the air that is coming through the vents isn't caused from the outside unit and the air that is blowing through is just as cold as the temp outside and being winter time is very cold ...I have a vent about 3 to 4 feet from my bed that I actually have to close because of the air being so cold...could this be a problem stemming from the unit from under the house and if so what would you recommend? Thank you for any assistance you can offer in this matter and God Bless, Jimmy Ray Wix, Franklin,Ky

Does it look like a box with four flex ducts or pipes coming off of it? if so its a fresh air/ heat recovery ventilator, supposed to bring in fresh air, keep in mind, the outdoor unit does not bring in air, it is just a pump to the indoor unit. that unit may be running independently, or wired incorrectly

Thermostat kicks on and off

I am not familiar with this unit but I would first replace the batteries if there are any. Be sure the heat does not blow on the thermostat when on. If that does not solve the problem I would replace the thermostat.

The gsrbsge disposal blades sound like they are hitting together when I turn on the switch. Does it need to be replaced (it's only about 3 yrs old) or how can I repair it?

I would first remove the unit and try to clear any foriegn debri. The blades should rocker against outer walls. You can leave plugged in, or the electric connected. Remember to keep your hand out of dispsal, use screwdriver of any type. Be Safe, Mastatech

My liftmaster garage door only opens 8 inches and then stops

It sounds like the opener is stopping because the weight of the door is tripping the lift sensor on the opener. There are two screws on the side of the opener to adjust the lift and close pressure. Find the lift pressure screw and ajust it higher to see if that remedies the problem.
Also, because you said the door will not stay open at the top when you open it manually, I think your springs are not adjusted correctly. They should hold the door open in the up position when not connected to the door opener. That may be the reason the opener lift pressure is kicking it out.
If you have to adjust the springs, be careful that you know what you are doing. There is a lot of potential for getting hurt if you don't know the proper proceedure.
Good luck.

I have a cutler hammer switch box that takes care

Is the motor new or old? Is this a recent problem or has it always been that way? What is the motor used for? Does the motor start and stop a lot, or does it run continuous? Is it constantly under load? Is this residential or commercial use? long is the circuit? What size wire and breaker are being used? Does it kick out when it starts or while it's running?
The FLA (Full Load Amps) for that motor is 22 x 1.25 = 28 amps. In GENERAL, a motor like that usually requires a minimum #10 (THHN or THWN) wire on a 30 amp breaker. However, NEC does permit up to a 70 amp breaker (250% of the FLA) if the 30 amp breaker is not sufficient for starting.
Remember that it's the built-in motor overloads that protect the wire. Best practice is to use the lowest size breaker possible for ground fault protection that will still allow the motor to start. A 40 amp breaker would be permissible.
On the other hand, if the circuit is very long, you need to increase the wire size to #8 or larger.
If this is an old motor that didn't have this problem before with your current setup, then you may need a new motor, and increasing the breaker size is not usually the solution, at least not without a qualified electrician actually seeing and evaluating the situation first.

Motor comes on; but does not cut the waste. Water

The water staying in the unit suggests the drain is clogged. Usually this happens outside the disposal, at the T-junction in the drain lines. Unless your plumbing is *very* old, the drain lines should be PVC with large nuts that can be removed by hand.
Use a bucket below the junction as you take things apart to catch the water. Keep in mind that below each nut, inside the joint, there is typically a translucent washer (triangular cross section) around the pipe - don't lose this, or your joints will leak when reassembled.
This job isn't tough, but it is messy. If you have any doubts about reassembly, take photos before taking things apart, so you have a guide to work from.

I have an old servant bell system how do i wire it in there is 8 push buttons in the house cant find any power source just bamboozled any help would be great reards paul

If there are lamps associated with the system, first find what voltage they are. Try to trace where the wiring goes to find if there is a source. It is even possible they ran the thing on old dry cells if it is very old. Some buzzers REQUIRE AC power, some will operate on DC. The power source WAS probably near the central indicator for the system.

Robert Shaw thermostat suddenly went blank

Best solution GET RID IT BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE....Original 9420 installed 8-18-06 changed temperature by itself and would not allow any adjustments...this one replaced on 1-3-08 and this one is doing same thing. Heat set on 70 when I noticed it getting extremely hot I checked thermostat and it was on 99 and would not allow me to adjust. Switched to off position waited 25 minutes and cut back on to heat....still will not allow me to adjust down from 99.....THIS PIECE OF **** WILL BE REPLACED TOMORROW WITH ANOTHER TYPE OF THERMOSTAT.

Snow thrower won't stay running

Replace the spark plug being sure to use the plug recommended in your owner manual, and the gap recommended. Then clean or replace the air filter. Finally use high test, new gasoline. Not gas that has been sitting around for months. good luck
