I would see if you can disable the LAN card in the BIOS, as the LAN card your speaking of is part of the motherboard and not a removable part. I have disabled these before VIA the BIOS and then installed a third party LAN card in an available slot on the PC.

How to clear a bios password in asus p5gcmx

Locate the CLRTC jumpers. They are located on the bottom right corner if you have the motherboard positioned so that the built in Video and Serial connectors are at the top left. This has 3 pins with a jumper between pins 1 and 2. Move the jumper to Pins 2 and 3 for about 30 secs while the computer is turned off and the power supply is unplugged. Then put it back on pins 1 and 2. Reconnect the power supply and while holding the Delete key down restart the computer. You can down load the user manual with these instructions at www.asus.com. You will have to search for your specific mother board. These directions are in section 2.6 page1-23.

Networking/Motherboard- does not recognize networking devices

Can't WinXP find appropriate driver for your lan card? If Asus did not provide a driver for its built-in lan, i think windows XP already has the driver built in its cache. try to install it using the wiz.
