Question about Mustek A3 USB Flatbed Scanner

Mustek Scanner won't initialize.

I purchased a Mustek Scanexpress A3 USB Pro scanner. I've correctly installed the software and hooked up the scanner. When I try to scan with either Photoshop or the bundled "Panel" program, it locks up. Not the entire PC, but the graphics program. I'm using XP Preofessional and have a AMD Sempron 3000+ processor

    Dan, I have other USB devices that work perfectly. I've tried the scanned in all ports.

Unplug the scanner from the PC and Wall.
Delete the scanner from your Device manager.
Reboot PC
Download Updated XP Driver HERE
Shut Down PC.
Plug Scanner into wall & PC.
Restart PC
allow windows to recognize new hardware.
point it to the file you just downloaded when it asks for driver.
Try scanning again.
Re-post if anything is unclear.

May be too many process is going on 
check for tat and remove ur ram and clean it once wit a soft cloth klocking up might be because of dust in ram also

Its your memory (RAM) which might be too low because the program that you are using eats up high memory resources. Upgrade to a higher capacity RAM.

Welcome to Fixya! Try going to the Manufacturers Website and Downloading the Updated Drivers for this Scanner. Bat Drivers would Freeze up the Graphics Program when Sending to Unit.

Does it do this with every USB port? Do you have any other USB devices hooked up?

    Ok, you've tried it in all ports and you have other working USB devices. These are steps I would take. You may have already done some or all of them. If you have not done so already I would try removing all other USB devices and making sure the scanner is plugged into a USB port directly on your motherboard. It is possible but unlikely that will solve your problem.

    Make sure your video driver is up to date. To find out what video card you have if you are running Windows XP press Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Information. When that comes up expand the Components section by clicking the + sign next to the word components, then click Display. Your video card is shown on the line Adapter Description. Then either make sure you have the latest driver for it or post here and we can probably point you to it.

    Try your software again if you upgrade your video driver. If it still does not work, proceed to the next step(s).

    Next (before I installed my scanner software) I would make sure that I followed Mustek's instructions when they say "Make sure the device is not plugged into the computer..." This page shows the only drivers for this particular scanner. Why they have nine different files is beyond me but whatever. I would attempt to follow the instructions, which include uninstalling the existing software before installing the new version.

It might be best to contact the point where you purchased it from as it would be under warranty if newly purchased. They have no operations in Australia. If you cannot get help from the seller then you will have to contact head office in Taiwan on this email address. anita.wang@mustek.com.tw

I cant get my new macbook pro to recognize my mustek Scan Express A3 USB 1200 pro, and i haven't been able to find a driver to fix it so far.

This might not be the best solution, but it won't take long and it's worth a shot. This is a known problem with some microsoft products. If you visit this microsoft site and click the Microsoft FixIt "Fix this problem" button, it may fix it on its own.

I need scanexpress a3 usb windows 7 driver pls


I succeeded into installing and using the Mustek ScanExpress A3 USB!

I downloaded the driver for Windows Vista from the Mustek website, then did the following steps:
1. left mouse click on the web.exe downloaded file and choose Properties;
2. in Properties I checked "Execute this program always as Administrator" and "Execute in compatibility mode for Windows Vista";
3. without any scanner connected I executed web.exe, gave the authorization even if recognized certificate;
4. allowed the system to restart;
5. connected the scanner;
6. directly used it into any program.

Please let me know if these instructions was useful!

It could be something to do with the bundled software having a missing or corrupt TWAIN32 file.. But you can Scan using Windows XP itself.
