your need go to device manager on the internal mic thing click on it and rollback driver to original or update it one of those should work or go to control panel under sounds then recording devices and clic to make you internal mic your default mic and make sure its not muted
You can try going into device manager and find the device and remove it then reboot and let it reinstall the mic drivers. If that does not work try going to the HP site and see if a new driver is available and install it. The mic could have gone bad and you may have to buy an external mic. Thanks for using FixYa
If the built in mic is not working but you are getting sounds from the speakers, you can still try to fix it by updating the audio driver of your laptop. Also try to check the settings to see if it is not disabled before you go ahead and buy an external mic.
if u mean to say u plugged in an external mic then internal's not workin, then its a simple sound setting game..
Look when u plug in an external mic, the internal one freezes...
Now go to Control Panel, Select Sounds & Audio Devices Now select Audio As u select Audio, U'll see a mic icon.. Expand the tab & select ur internal mic.. Now apply it & click ok.. Now check whether ur internal mic is working or not.. I guess it wil work..

This could be a problem because of the sound drivers you are using. You have to have a Win Vista operating system for the correct drivers then i m sure the mic internal and external should work.
I CANT HAVE MY INTERNAL MIC WORKING WITH XP. TRIED EVERY POSSIBLE DRIVER. 3.45 and found around a 3.47.1 everithing ok except that i cant find anywhere the internal mic and i cant use that. How can they be so clever to put a mic line in when there is a buil in one? I bought this pc for webcam and mic built in. Vista kills the pc (it a celeron) so i need XP (mine is sp3). And the internal mic is not working?????? Noone can find solution??? Even HP doesnt post correct drivers, how awful. found many drivers around but nope with internal mic, i cant even find it anywere around in config or system... Anyone got any results?

My laptop model is compaq presario c754tu, I have installed Windows Vista Business, and the audio is working fine, but the internal mic and external microphone both work together........i want to mute the internal mic..... how i can do it ? please reply me on my email id i.e. email@example.com
the external mic must be unplugged for it to work and you need to reconfigure the internal mic if it doesn't work... there should be an option for this under start>settings>control panel> audio> microphone
