Try this, its probably a small part of jammed paper or then theres a problem with the pickup, try cleaning it.
Load a piece of thick paper, for example photo paper and press the resume button (may be diffrent button on diffrent models) a few times to the printer picks up the paper and puts it through the machine. ..

CLICK HERE - about halfway down is how to check the xbias spring, and the whole document is about checking the carriage.
If the small plastic tab in the carriage chute is broken, the x-bias sprint might be dislodged. The broken tab might be in either of the carriage chutes, so check both.
