Question about Toshiba Satellite M35X-S161 Notebook
When I turn it on, I hear a series of beep (error code), as follows;
beep.... beep, beep, beep.... beep, beep, beep.... beep (1, 3, 3, 1 beeps)
This happens with or without the battery in place.
Doesn't really matter, I'm down to just wanting to remove the hard drive with the hopes of copying some data off it.
I have googled, etc for weeks to find some kind of diagram and/or instruction on how to get to and remove the hard drive in this guy.
Any direction you may be able to provide would be most welcome.
Regards (and thanks, either way), Mike
You can find an error code key but if all you want is the hard drive, why not follow these take apart directions.
It looks like it's a normal process: one screw on the bottom and then pulling the drive tray out. If you find that this isn't the case, you might have to take it apart to remove the hard drive. Drop another note here if that doesn't work.
I think the error code you are getting is a memory code. I'm supposing that you haven't tried replacing the memory because you would have mentioned that to save us the hassle of eliminating options you've already tried. I'd try reseating the memory first and then, if that doesn't work, try cleaning the memory chip connections with a pencil eraser to remove oxidization and dirt. Then, if that doesn't work, borrow, steal or beg a matching piece of memory. Sometimes satellites have one piece that you can access under the memory door (on the bottom of the machine) and another piece under the keyboard, so you'll have to look into that.
