Cnange rear spark plugs

HT lead could be faulty, plug cap etc.

cylinders 1 to 7 are on the drivers side 1-3-5-7 (front to rear)
cylinders 2 to 4 are on the passenger side 2-4-6-8 (front to rear)

the distributor is numbered 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 in a counterclockwise rotation, pick a distributor terminal that is somewhat in line (line drawn thru the centre of the distributor to the #1 cylinder, the distributor terminal closest to this line is marked #1). connect a spark plug wire from the #1 distributor terminal to the spark plug. In a counterclockwise rotation move to the next distributor terminal, this is #8 (follow the firing order), the next terminal after #8 is #4 and so on. Confusing, yes...but it will come to you. when you crank the engine you have to check if spark plugs fire if not maybe your crank sensor is bad, thats why car wont start, your distrbutor is turning when crancking? did you cnange distributor cap and rotor?

The distributor rotor turns COUNTERCLOCKWISE

The marked # 1 position on the distributor cap faces to the rear and slightly towards the drivers side of the engine

The engine cylinders / spark plugs are numbered : passenger side , front to rear , 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 and drivers side , front to rear 5 , 6 , 7 , 8

The cap is marked # 1 the firing order is 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8 counterclockwise facing the engine from the front it is 1-2-3-4 front to rear on pass side 5-6-7-8 front to rear on drivers side

I assume you have the 4.3 vortec. If so, check to make sure you have the spark plug wires in the right position on the distributor cap. firing order is 1,2,3,4,5,6. right side of engine is 1 front 3 middle and 5 rear. Left side of engine is 2 front, 4 middle, and 6 rear. On the distributor cap # 1 should be toward front of engine and work counter clockwise from there. Hope this is helpful. KS

3)#1 is usually marked on cap wires go ccw
4) TDC #1 cyl you must remove the shorting plug before timing
