Toshiba tv fuse blown

most electronic applications use what is known as a "slow blow" fuse and they are available fro electronic spares shops (JAYCAR and the like ) however if the fuse blows , you have a much bigger problem so take it to a repair shop and have the problem properly diagnosed

My sylvania Television model 6419TE comes on as soon i switch on the power out let and goes off by it self.

Hi!
That's a clear indication that you have a bad power supply in your TV.
If you know how to DiY...I suggest you open your TV. Locate the power supply section, it is where the end of the power plug is connected. Replace all blown or bulge or leaked capacitors with same value. That will fix your TV problem.
The hardest part is to disassembling your TV cover, cause you will need to pry off the snap in lock at the edge of your TV.

Power supply board should look like this. Examine the capacitors in the board

After replacing blown capacitors...it should work again.

Things you will need.
1. A plastic flat end screw or any object with flat ends....to fry off the cover
2. Soldering iron.
3. Soldering lead
4. Soldering pump.
5. Flat and Philip Screw
6. Replacement capacitors (of same value with the blown one) that you can buy to any electronics store.

Hope it helps

No picture, no sound

The power supply is not starting up. The most likely cause is two defective integrated circuits in the power supply section. If you are technical, I can supply you with the part numbers and where they are located.

Picture Problem -- TV Does not Turn On

I don't think the picture tube (CRT) failed.
If you have no sign of life at all such as a lit LED or similar, the unit either has a blown fuse (could be inside) or the power supply has failed or at least is starting up as it should.
But before getting carried away, plug a lamp or other device into the same outlet to be certain that the set is getting AC.

Then, check your user guide to see if they specify or list any fuse in the specification section.
If you find mention of it and replace it only to see it fail again, then there was a reason for the failure of the first fuse too, meaning it will need service.

Loud pop and picture is no longer available.....

blown resistor (42ohm) replaced this and it imediately blew it clearly shows that there is a short circuit in your tv. if you are a tech person please proceed as follows. 1 isolate power supply from hor.output section. 2 now check power supply section.i.e. switching tran., cap..diode etc. 3 if it becomes ok check power supply output. 4 if output is ok then check hor. output section.i.e. h.out tr.,cap& diode in eht winding. 5 check print near eht. 6 at finally eht. 7 see every thing is normal now. now reconnect power to hor.section. put on tv. good luck.

You may try unplugging the set for about 10 seconds and trying again to see if it resets itself. If that doesn't work, you could be lucky and just have a blown fuse inside the set. Do not put in a higher amperage fuse than what it calls for though, and if the new one blows don't try another. IF the fuses are good, then you probably have a problem in the power supply and if the set is less than 6 years old, it may be worth repairing.

Tv won't turn on

you probably got a power surge and could have blown an internal fuse or the power supply was damaged. If you know about troubleshooting electronic curcuits then your gonna first need a schematic diagram and that can be gotten from sams photo facts They have almost any tv diagramand is downloadable too. If you dont under stand how the set works then I would advise a pro taking a look at it as it could be a current limiter resistor or a regulator IC .. Good Luck
