I have installed an Asus P8B75-MLE mother board with Windows 7 as the operating system. When I try to shut down the computer, the computer will go through shutdown. The video will shut off but the computer does not shut off completely. The fans and lights stay on. If I hold the power button 4 seconds, the system will shut off. Thanks for you help.

Try plugging the drives into another computer to see if they actually work, ie read discs etc if they do then try swapping the power supply out of your computer.. if this doesn't work then I would say your motherboard is dead. Good luck

Come back on XP or Vista but XP works better. There is no driver for W7 yet.Motherboards manufacturers will provide drivers for W7 when Microsoft will announce that the system(W7) is ready to be sell....Windows 7 is still beta! If Microsoft still provide "UP DATE" for XP why you want to install other OS?

just run scandisk for your windows driver and check for any errors.
i once got this problem i just ran scandisk and some errors are found in the filesystem and they were removed
after that i have no prob shutting down my pc.
and if possible try to run a virus scan like avast or avg. etc.., this could take long if you have a monster harddrive and data.
hope this helps..

I own a Laptop Toshiba Satellite A75-S2131.
This series have a problem with the cooling flow to the processor.
The processor overheats and the laptop shuts down.To solve this particular problem you must tear down the laptop and clean up the processor heatsink (you will find it totally plugged or partially dirty).
Find in the internet the step by step instructions (with photos) for dismantling this laptop. Do not forget to apply thermal paste between processor & heatsink.
I hope this solution helps.

Repaired computer myself. Removed CMOS battery to reset BIOS, waited 2-3 minutes, replaced battery, rebooted and shut down. The computer shuts down correctly.
