Most of these sets have the remote sensor located either on the front keyboard or inside the set(behind the screen) If the keyboard has the sensor check to make sure none of the wires got ripped out of the plug that goes there---if it is behind the screen it will be located in front and above the three large lens on a tiny circuit board--follow the wires from that and make sure the plug where they connect to the main board is not pulled out or off. If the wires got pulled out of the plug someone is going to have to repair them or replace the unit---most of the time it can be fixed.

The more information you give me the better the chance that I can help you.

Hi!

There are some tests that you can do to verify the functioning of the remote. If you view the transmitting end of the remote with a camcorder, or mobile phone camera, you should be able to observe light coming from it when you press a button. Cameras are able to pickup the infrared light(not seen by the naked eye) that the remote uses to transmit its signal to the TV, you will see the flashing of the infrared LED if it is working. This will verify that the remote is at least transmitting something.

If nothing appears to be transmitted by the remote, and you feel up to a relatively straight forward repair, I can guide you through steps to fix the remote. If it does appear to be transmitting, then I would suspect the receiving end at the TV is the problem. To be sure the remote is not confused, remove the batteries for 10 mins and try again.

And, if it doesn't work the you can purchase a factory replacement from Toshiba parts (at a hefty price) or you can buy a universal from the department or electronic stores that will do the trick - they run $5 to $10.

Just make sure it has the menu and a/v select feature on the remote and it should have all the capability that you need.(When you buy it online thet will tell you whether it is compatible with your tv or not)

    Thanks

Have you tried cleaning the contact pad? Just open the remote, and you will find the contact pad. it is like a rubber sheet with contact terminals matching the locations of the various buttons.Just take a clean cloth and clean the contact points.
Re-assemble the remote, put in new batteries. And it should work now.

I would recheck the wires that got switched first and make sure they are right!

I have a rca profection tv. When you turn it on it turns back off by itself

Thats way I solved my problem.

Mitsubishi (and other makes) has had problems with the front panel push buttons partially shorting. This can cause a variety of odd and erratic operating problems, and a completely dead set has been documented as one of them.
The reason the remote doesn't work is because the partially shorted front pushbuttons are telling the TV's micro computer that there is a command being issued by the front panel, and that makes the TV ignore the remote control.
The fix is to replace all of the front panel push buttons. One quick and dirty way to get around this is to simply unplug the wiring harness to the front panel push buttons, hence disabling them, and just using the remote control.
Just pull off the speaker grill from the front. You will see a small access panel on the front with wires coming from the front buttons running inside. Those are the wires you'll want to disconnect.
Take that panel off, and follow those wires. You'll have to undo a couple of plastic cable clamps, but halfway down the wires you'll find two connectors. They have lock tabs that you have to push to separate them, but they should pull apart without too much trouble. One connector is actually the front panel input jacks, the other is the buttons, but you can unplug both of them.
Then cross your fingers and try the remote.
Let me know how that goes!

I have a Sony KDF-55WF655. I think the IR sensor is going bad. My remote occasionally stops working for no reason. I have tried numerous different remotes, but I get the same problem no matter which...

Hi:
The IR receiver inside the television is becoming intermittent and needs to be replaced. You might also check the connections on the receiver small circuit board for cold or loose solder joints.

Tv has worked for ever with the remote now remote has failed and the on off swutch doesnt work to turn it on and off How can I program another remote if I can turn it on?

First, check to make sure the front keyboard is not locked out. Press and hold the menu key for 10 seconds then release. If it was locked out, then front panel buttons should work. If no change, you likely have a problem with one of the ten contact switches on that panel. Remove the front speaker grill by pulling it off, then trace the wires from the front control panel (you may need to remove the cover off the front of TV). Unplug the wires to the front panel and try by Remote control. If the remote works, you can purchase ten tact switches and install or just leave the wires unplugged and use it like that.

I recently recieved the Mitsubishi 555 11 from my Dad first thing i dont know how to hook my Direct tv reciever to it second i cant get the volume bar to go away and lastly the remote doesnt work.

first of all all you need to do is hoop up the direct tv on input 1 yellow with yellow , white with white and red whit red , then about the volume check and see if you can do something without using the remote control just press the volume on the tv and if nothing happen then you have a defected key panel and that's way you can't use the remote control , now what you can do is take the speaker grill off follow the wires that came from the key board a desconnect then and then try the remote control it should work

WS-5551 only on/off button works, won't respond to remote at all

take off the speaker grill, you will see 2 wire plugs, turn the tv on, disconnect both plugs, if it now works with the remote then you need to replace all of the front switches, or leave them unplugged and use the remote, if this doesn't work, you have a bad dm board or signal module which could get very expensive.

Tv keeps changing channels on its own and remote not working

I disconnected the front buttons of my set. Pop off the speaker cover and note which color wires come off the buttons and then take off the lower back and you can see where it connects to a board. Generally the far right connection but trace the wires. After doing that my channels quit cycling and everything but the front buttons work.
