Question about DeLonghi Esclusivo Magnifica ESAM3300 Espresso Machine
I just got myself a Delonghi ESAM 4500 and even though I program it to make the coffee extra hot it is only warm. Around 65 degrees Celcius. Is it possible to program the machine so that the whole scale moves a bit up? I would like the setting "warm" to be warmer and the extra hot setting to be really hot (80 to 85 degrees Celcius) Is there a service code or something that will make it possible to move the setpoint for tixed temperature settings on this machine - or is it possible to "cheat" the machine by exchanging the sensor with another one?
Hi. If you have not yet had any success, try http://www.delonghi.com.au/support/instruction_manuals/EAM_series.pdf

I had this problem too. The instruction manual says to turn the steam knob only half way counter-clockwise after pressing the button for 5 seconds, but you need to turn it ALL the way to have the procedure start (at least, that was the solution with my machine). Good luck!

SOURCE: hello i have an Delonghi esam
I had this problem until I realised that you need to switch the machine off by pressing the on/off button on the front of the machine first *before* switching it off at the back and unplugging it. This moves the infuser unit further to the bottom and then allows you to take it out.

The machine is not flashing an error message. When a problem is detected you get an error message on display.
First hold down ESC (or STOP/CLEAR depending on model), just in case machine is stuck in programming mode.
Disconnect power cord for two minutes. Connect back and try a reset if the problem is not fixed:
•Press the CHANGE button and the appliance displays "RESET TO DEFAULT YES";
•Press the OK button to reset the factory default values;
•Press the MENU button to exit programming mode or NEXT to change other parameters.
If that does not work, try holding down rinse or descale. If the machine starts rinse or descale, complete the procedure. If machine gets stuck in rinse or descale, keep filling the container while performing the procedure.
If all that does not fix the problem, call Delonghi at the number listed on the owners manual, the machine is defective.
Try all the rest first, or Delonghi may ask you to do some of the same procedures while operator is waiting at the phone.

ha this is the same problem i had just last week at a customers house with the same machine , the knob does pull off but it is hellish tight and you feel like the valve is about to burst through the front of the machine but it does pull off, when fitting the new knob it is a good idea to put some grease over the shaft before pushing the new knob on as it's nearly as hard pushing the new one back on as taking the old one off.
