How to replace raid card battery

Firstly, shut down the server. Open the top cover and look for the RAID card battery. Should be easy enough to spot it. Unplug it from the board and replace with the new one. Power on your server and look for change notifications.

just take the old battery to any shop, like Radio Shack, it is a common 3.6V Flat cell, they are pretty common, often used in car remotes etc, as long as it is the same voltage and size you can use any brand.

the brand will not matter as long as the battery is the same value. There is one thing need to reset the cmos error message, which is done by unplugging a small jumper located around the cmos battery if you can find the manual for the PC online it will show you the jumpers (which are really small connectors on the motherboard ) needed to be unplugged but reinstalled the way they where before waiting a good 10 seconds after the jumpers are removed should fix the problem

You should change to battery or switch to power outlet

This is typically caused by software that manages an uninterrupable power supply (aka UPS). Simply put, this is a battery that the server plugs into to so the server can run for a short time when there is a power outage.

UPS devices frequently come with software to communicate with the server so it knows when it is on battery. When the server is notified that it is on battery it will provide warning messages like the one you described. Some will even pass the notice to all computers connected to the server to make sure no work is lost.

One of the most popular programs is APC PowerChute. I would look for this program or other programs that have the words "UPS" and/or "power" in their name to find the cause.

I hope this helps.
