Question about Desa International GWP20T GLOWARM Wall Mounted Panel Heater

1 Answer

Heater will not stay lit

We have a model#CBN20T wall mount natural gas heater we can get the pilot light to light but as soon as we let up on the temperature selection knob we hear a click and the pilot goes out. We have occasionally been able to get the heater to stay lit for several hours - then it clicks and goes out.

Sounds like the thermocouple is going out this is the part the flame from the pilot burns on and tells the gas valve to stay open by producing a small amount of electrical current in milli-amps these can be purchased @ a good hardware store and you must position as it is when it comes out , and must be the same length , make sure to connect to gas valve clean and tight , also is there a moisture trap in the line if so you might need to turn off gas and make sure it is free of moisture , this is a good place to start with these items

The part is ordered by Model number, a serial number is no help, and yes there is a part called the flame sensor that allows the gas to stay on, I am sure if you contact a local supplier they can provide a suitable substitute gas valve or sensor if it is a stand alone part, on most the sensor is part of the gas valve. I think you will end up having a local shop try and match up the valve.

I'm having the same exact problem... At first we thought was the vent... but the way the flames goes out... it seems that there is "not enough oxygen" more than "blown out by the wind"... right after both main & pilot goes out, I can't even light any external flame inside the chamber... and it doesn't feel like the outside cold air coming in... it just feel like there is some sort of gas in the chamber that's so strong, it prevents flame... and the only thing I can think of is that it doesn't have enough oxygen, but too much natural gas, and flame can't sustain.

Pilot light will not stay lit on model 465FX-R wall mounted gas furnace. Thermocouple was replaced but still won't stay lit. Gas is on at the meter. Any suggestions?

It is possible that gas valve is bad, however, try replacing the pilot orifice located in the pilot assembly. If the flame is inadequate it will not generate the voltage required in the thermocouple. Pilot orifices are less than $10 and can be found at your local heating contractor's parts counter. Bring in the orifice to match.

It sounds like the thermocoupler is either not adjusted into the flame properly, or you may have gotten a bad one. The thermocouple is the main thing that makes the pilot work.

A short pilot flame not playing on the thermocouple or a faulty thermocouple , loose connection at the gas where thermocouple is ,

blocked pilot flame to small , air in gas line did he purge the gas line first? other wise you will be there a long time .
