Question about IBM ThinkPad T23 2647 Notebook
My IBM ThinkPad T23 has a linux and windows partition. I use the XP partition, and am not interested in saving the Linux partition. For the past year or 2 I constantly have "memory dump" shutdowns. While in Excel, she shut down on me, and now, nothing happens when I try to boot her up. When I power on, there are 3 short beeps, pause, 3 short beeps, pause and a single beep. This indicates there is a problem with the DIMM and the system board. I know what DIMM is, but don't know what kind of DIMM I have. Before I open her up, I want to know if it's worth trying to figure out, or should I just start saving for a new computer? Thanks for any advice you can offer.
Sounds like defective RAM or RAM slot to me. How much memory do you have on your T23? It might be possible to remove the bad memory or switch the memory(if it's good) to the working memory slot (there are two in T23).
I would say it's not a bad problem and most likely you will not need to start saving for a new laptop. Perhaps only a new memory or simply switching the memory to the other slot will do.

You need PC-133 SODIMM (144 pin). This model can use two for a max of 1GB (2x512MB).
