Unfortunately I cannot find any references to driver installation for versions of Windows beyond Windows XP. The possibly means the hardware is not natively compatible with Windows 7. You can try installing the Windows XP driver using either compatability mode or if push comes to shove you can use the XPMode virtual machine to run the device in a true Windows XP environment with Windows 7 Virtual PC. I would contact Philips customer support for more information.
I suggest that you allow little more silent time before pressing the pause or stop. also when you start regording again let it go for a second or two and then start talking.
you may also tap the mic pefore starting speaking, performers always tap the mic pefore starting to make sure its working.
Usually ubuntu has drivers built in for most devices present in a computer configuration ..but if you bought a new device and installed it on the computer ...and you have no driver for it ..you have to get on the support site of the manufacturer of the device ..and look if it has a driver for LINUX OS ...if it doesn't ..try to reinstall the operation system and see if it takes the driver automatically ...This is the only way ..
We had the same problem with our speechmikes, If you are based in the UK,you can send them to a company called premicom. They fixed ours for a fixed price of £35 each plus vat. They were very quick to repair and we had them back in a couple of days.
I had trouble initially with the same error message as deedee 222 8 and cannot give exact instructions. Try intalling old version, uninstall and then install upgrade 390 from Philips web site. I had to restart 3 times to get rid of an error messge on boot up but then it worked!
