Question about Citrix GoToMeeting

Not able to install Citrix GoToMeeting

One day I was having an issue with my GoToMeeting not working properly. So I tried to uninstall it but the uninstall was unsuccessful. I then tried to reinstall a new instance over the old, but I wasn't able to do that either.

When I start up my computer every day, I get the following dialogue box/error (this occurred before I ever tried a reinstall but continues since attempting a reinstall):

GoToMeeting can not be started due to a security certificate mismatch.

Please go to the GoToMeeting Website and reinstall GoToMeeting to correct this issue.

I press OK as prompted and continue w/o any other problems the rest of the day.

When reinstalling, I get the following error:

Unable to execute the application c:]Program Files\Citrix\GoToMeeting\198\G2MInstaller.exe. The system cannot find the file specified.

Note: I have tried to run the executable from their website and to download and run it from my PC – same result. The executable I am running is g2m_install

I have tried contacting the support team at GoToMeeting twice over the past two weeks, but they have not answered back, so I was hoping I could fins some help somewhere else.

Hi!
I am a Vista user and did have the same issue, so here what I did in order not to have this annoying error (I am not sure what action specifically did the trick):
1) Did it via Firefox (make sure you have the latest one);
2) Go to java.com and install the latest java update;
3) Go to gotomeeting.com->Login->re-install software->download manually and save g2m_download.exe file;
4) Now do Unblock and Apply in g2m_download.exe file property General tab;
5) Then Vista users need to disable UAC, I suppose this is the same as "Uncheck the “Protect my computer …”" (Go to "Control Panel" and type "UAC" into the search box. This will bring up the link: "Turn User Account Control (UAC) on or off." Click it. Uncheck the box next to "Use UAC to help protect my computer" then click OK. Restart.);
6) After restart right click on g2m_download.exe and "run as administrator".
Thats it!

I have Citrix GoTo Meeting. I launched a meeting and sent invitations. The invitees are getting an error message when they try to join that says "Installer could not locate a suitable folder to install into"

Same error messeage received. However, Clicked "login" then on the next page clicked "Need to re-install our software". That was enough to download software. No need to adjust firewalls or anything else. I would try that first before changing settings.

If you don't mind, feel free to try a GoToMeeting alternative on your computer. There are lots of video conferencing programs in the market. Feel free to try some of them.

Trueconf. Designed as an educational and business video teleconferencing service, Trueconf is a very interactive GoToMeeting alternative, which manages to offer a wide area of services for free.

Anymeeting. Anymeeting is another reliable teleconferencing software, and one of trustworthy alternatives to Gotomeeting. Even though it's not free, it manages to offer some interesting features, which worth its price.

join.me. The biggest advantage of join.me and the reason for its popularity, consists in the simplicity of the interface. With just a few features, this alternative to GoToMeeting is ideal for any teleconferencing sessions, in which you have to share its screen with the viewers.

eztalks Cloud Meeting. This is the ideal video conferencing tool, and the best GoToMeeting alternative. It features a wide diversity of features, which can fulfill any business and educational needs. Considering that other programs are either too faulty or expensive, eztalks Cloud Meeting manages to create a balance between these two features, and to deliver a cheap and professional video conferencing service.

The solution mentioned was very helpful to me. I got the "installer could not find suitable folder" problem solved with 1 install. The solution the other member is suggesting worked. The thing I can add, and is shown here:

http://annoyances-resolved.blogspot.com/2010/09/g2mdownloadexe-installer-could-not-find.html

is that the Java upgrade has no bearing on the subject, so it can possibly be skipped.

I had the newest Java and still got the same problem.

The UAC issue on Vista, possibly Win7 was really the bottom line.

Hi, you are most likely using a Mac running OS X 10.5 in which case a recent Apple update has broken Java. Please download and install the latest version of Firefox for Mac as it is currently the only web browser which has updated to fix this issue.
Thanks,

When trying to enter a meeting code for a gotomeeting, it then tells me there is an unexpected error. Please try again. I have confirmed that this IS the correct number.

I had this issue as well and I ended up having to delete the C:\Program Files\Citrix\GoToMeeting folder because it had some old cached versions of GoToMeeting. After that it worked fine.

I had that error. In my case, my "Num Lock" in the Keyboard was not On and that was causing the password to be incorrect. Once I entered correct password, the error did not come out and I could start GoToMeeting normally.

INSTALL ERROR - THE INSTALLER COULD NOT LOCATE A SUITABLE FOLDER TO INSTALL INTO

Try this:

The issue seems to be related to a Windows Security Update. Our engineers are working on this.

Can I get you to ask your client to try the following:

After clicking the link to join your meeting.

Select the option to manually download the software and save the executable somewhere you can find it easily. Most people prefer to save the file to their desktop.

Next, right click on the icon and select “Run As…”

Finally, DESELECT the option to “Protect my computer from unauthorized program activity.”

And select OK.

You should be able to connect into the meeting.

You can also try joining the meeting through a different browser such as firefox.

Invalid meeting ID in gotomeeting

It sounds like your attendees have an older version of the software than what is currently supported. They might try uninstalling whatever GoToMeeting programs they have on their computer and try again.
