Help! Only my right speaker works on my new speakers! Do I need a new sound card?

USB headphones and speakers tend to operate independently of the PC's sound card, but you can determine if your sound card is the problem by plugging the speakers into a different computer. If both speakers work on a different computer, then the problem does lie in the original computer. If so, try a different USB port, especially one that is directly on the computer, not in a usb hub.

If only one speaker works on a different computer, I would troubleshoot the cord that connects the left speaker to the right speaker. Perhaps it is damaged or not connected fully.

Hope that helps.

Help! I only hear the right speaker on my new speakers!!! Do I need a new sound card?

The easiest diagnostic is to plug you USB speakers to another computer.
Connect directly to your computer. Do not use USB splitters
Make sure you wired the second speaker to the first speaker (the one with the controls) and from the first one yo connect to the USB jack directly on the PC.
Open the sound card utility and make sure you are balanced and not muted.

For people with standard miniplug speakers: turn on and at max volume the speakers Get two pieces of wire and connect one side to the shaft of the mini conector and hold with your left hand. Hold the other wire with your right hand and touch the other wire to either of the tip or the middle ring of said connector. You should hear a cracking sound from each of the two speakers That way you will know if one of the speakers is Kaput.

Low volume with volume cranked up

Are the speakers battery-powered (with dead batteries?) or AC-powered (but not plugged-in) ?

Do the speakers work correctly when connected to some other desktop or laptop or iPod ?

I have no sound at all

Have you checked that sound is coming from the computer? Make sure you don't have the output muted and that your volume is turned up. Check the output by plugging in a pair of headphones or another speaker system. If that's all normal, the problem is in the speakers.

The speakers aren't actually a part of the monitor although they do hang on the sides. Check that the audio cable from your computer to the input jack on the right speaker is plugged in at both ends. Check that the power adapter is plugged into a working AC outlet and that the power plug to the speaker is firmly seated. Does the power indicator light when you turn the speakers on? Is the volume control up? Those AC adapters sometimes do fail. The adapter is replaceable if it's gone bad (you can find a suitable one at Radio Shack).

If everything else is checking out and the speakers still have no sound, the amplifier integrated circuit has failed. While this could be repaired, you can probably buy a new set of speakers for what a service shop would charge to replace the amplifier.

Speaker problem

Hi, Assuming that the speaker is plug in to the PC and power is also applied to the speaker - If the PC sounds comes out of the headset but not on the speakers, then the speakers are defective. Being new/recently bought, your best course of action would be to bring the unit back for replacement or at least the speakers since trying to repair it would void the warranty. Please remember to bring proof of purchase, warranty card or whatever document(s) are required for this sort of complaint. Good luck and kind regards.
