Windows error recovery on everex stepnote va4103m

When I start up my laptop it goes to the windows error recovery page. It will not let me start it in normal mode. if I try it goes right back to the same page. When I try to do the recovery it gets stuck on 54% and then tells me the image failed to load. I have tried to use a boot disk but same thing happens. Please help me with this problem before I use it as I tire chalk for a semi. lol lol lol . thank you

I've got a similar problem. I got a StepNote from a friend who was having trouble installing a piece of software. The software would complain about not having .Net framework (despite 2.0, 3.0 being included with Vista). Additionally, Windows Update did not function correctly (services would not start, descriptions were missing) and the computer frequently locked up. This computer is nearly brand new, with nothing installed beyond OEM. I'm going to attempt the recovery process again and see if I can get it to finish. If that doesn't work, then I'm going to attempt an install with a regular OEM vista disk. Hard drive failure is most certainly a possibility.

Sounds like you are having a hard drive failure.

Everex stepnote VA4103M laptop computer. error message when turning on computer. bootmgr is missing. press ctl alt del to restart. computer does not boot up.

Hi. Something might have happened to the boot manager of your computer. Here's the solution for this issue. You should have you Windows installation disk with you inorder to do this.

Boot off the Windows DVD and then click Next at the first prompt:

You should see a link in the lower left-hand side for "Repair your computer"

The installation process will attempt to find your installation directory. If there's more than one in the list, select the correct one and then use the Next button again.

Click the first link for "Startup Repair"

The installation process will repair the system, and then prompt for you to reboot.

Windows recovery

If it worked before then boot into Safe Mode ( repeatively tapping on F8 while booting) and once there look for and select "last known good configuration".

Or if that doesnt work place your windows cd on cd-rom and boot off it. Select "Repair " for installation option
