Question about HP Office Equipment & Supplies

I purchased a HP Deskjet D4200 series printer a little more than 1 1/2 years ago and have just gotten around to installing it. Everything appears to be fine except when something is sent to the printer it does nothing except outfeed the paper as though it has finished printing. Help! what could be wrong

    No, my HP Deskjet D4200 does not go through the motions of printing, it only expells paper as though it has printed

Have you tried to do a printer test?

The cartridges may have dried up over this period of time, especially if they had been opened then repackaged, or opened and installed, then repackaged, or even just sitting on the shelf.

First things first though, run a print test to see if you can get it to print. Go to Start|Settings|Printers, and pick your printer. Right click, Properties, and you should have an Option to print a test page. You can also go to the HP software that should have been installed to align the cartridges and print a test page.

Finally, HP's website has a pretty good troubleshooting section. Just type in your printer Model.

    Having just gone through this on a Deskjet 722C, go buy new cartridges for it.

    I started having problems with the 722 not printing blue, and put a supposedly "new", yet 18-24 month old print head into the printer, with the same or similar results as the first. Went and bought a new print cartridge today, and all is well.

I have this same issue from time to time with my HP printer I clear it by unplugging the printer from power and doing a cold restart on the computer, this cures the issue, not sure why this happens that fixes it, a cold reboot on the computer is when the power has been turned off 3 minutes and the start button pushed with the power off to drain the system capacitor's.

Just unplug the printer from main power cord and connect it after 10 minutes.and check out.also delete the pending prints in the print que.also check if the software is loaded properly or reinstallit.it will solve the issue.
