What you first have to do is to recall the error code from the memory washer. The procedure is written in the user manual you received when you purchased the machine(white envelope inside the washer casing) but basically, you need to wake up the machine by pressing any button, wait for 5 long seconds, and then press the start and pause/cancel simultaneously. You hold the 2 buttons pressed together for a few seconds and then the machine will display the error code. If you see E47, you need to change the door lock module. In the manual, E47 or E48 refers to test #9 which is to measure the resistance of the PTC heater (white little piece acting as a relay) If you see something around 1500 ohms, this part really is defective. I changed it this morning and now my washer works just fine. The whole module is sold around 60$ in Montreal. Part number 131763245. The guy at the store told me this is 90% of the time the cause of the problem.

Careful with the error code: If you un-hooked a cable and started the machnie to make some test, the machine will probably store another error code in its memory. In order for the machine to show you the real problem, you need to hookup everything back and start a cycle. That will reset the previous error and store the valid one.

SOURCE: will not spin,

Washing machines may drain but doesn't spin because of the following reasons:

  • The lid switch may be defective. If it is, the washing machine doesn't spin. The switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the door frame. Often you have to raise or open the top or front of the washing machine to get to the switch. If it's defective, you need to replace it.

  • A belt may be broken. Many washing machines have one or two belts. If a belt is broken or badly worn, you need to replace it with a genuine belt from the manufacturer. (Some washing machine belts are designed with special characteristics not found in automotive belts.)

  • The drive motor may be defective. Many washer brands use a reversing motor. For agitation the motor runs in one direction, for spinning and draining, the other. It's possible for a motor to burn out in one direction and continue to operate in the other. If this happens, you need to replace the entire motor.

  • The spin bearing or basket drive may be worn or seized. These components allow the inner tub to spin freely inside the outer tub. When this is the problem, you usually hear a loud sound during the spin cycle. Call a qualified appliance repair technician.

My Kenmore washer drains after the rinse cycle but won't spin at the end of it's cycle. If I manually set it to the spin cycle, it spins just fine. Desperate!!! The lid switch was just replaced about

Possible there is problem with the timer controller unit. It seems that the stepper motor is not moving to the next cycle until you manually move it to the spin. You can use some contact cleaners on the switch and also carefully try to see if the timer moves within , replacement is a costly issue and must be debated

I have a Frigidaire front-loading washing machine, model# FTF2140ES3 (serial# XC63816300). It works fine through the rinse cycle, but does not drain or spin. If I turn it to the rinse/spin only cycle, it...

    Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Please check the water pump. Either the water pump bearing is bad or there are some tiny pieces of debris stuck in the water pump. It is located below the door latch assembly. Remove the front panel and check the drain pump which is attached with hoses. Remove its clamps and clean the drain pump. You can also remove the drain pump by unbolting it from the washer base. If still the issue persists, then check the motor speed control board which is located inside the bottom of the washer. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or
post a comment for further assistance.

I have a maytag over capacity plus heavy duty 2 speed 10 cycle washer it fills with water fine you hear the motor kick in to girate but doesent spin or you put it on spin cycle it sounds like it is...

The motor is working, but the mechanism not engaged by the helix so the shaft can not move therefore no agitation or spinning. Motor is designed to turn 2 directions: clockwise and counterclockwise for agitation and spinning. Therefore there are 2 mechanisms to assist these tasks. The drain is control by a separate pump and it is still good also.
The tube has to be out to replace the helix for agitation and a part to engage with the spinning rotation to release the brake so the spinning function can work. These parts are cheap, but the the labor is not. Hope this can help

HELP!! Washer machine wont work. Doesnt drain or spin. Clicks to drain and spin but nothing happens, the timer still counts down as if everything is fine.

This assumes that you have a basic Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive, neutral drain (it doesn't spin until the pump removes most of the water) machine.

If the machine starts, fills and goes through its' agitate cycle fine, the problem is likely not in the motor or transmission.

This type of washer uses a reversible motor. When turning one way, the machine agitates the clothes.

When the timer gets to the spin cycle, the motor reverses, drives the pump (directly from the motor) for a period of time and then goes into spin cycle.

This appears then that is is either the connection to the motor itself or the timer.

The timer is driven by a separate motor on the control panel so if the contacts for the spin cycle are worn, the timer will move but the motor won't turn on.

    Spin speed too slow

CHECK THE PUMP. I had the same problem and after removing the pump (fairly easy) found a clump of stuffing from a hole in a quilt jammed in the impellor. After removing and installing the then cleaned out pump it worked perfectly. Suggest using a regular stainless steel hose clamp in place of the factory clamp that is hard to put into position on the hose to the pump. Be sure to put the clear plastic bag back in place over the pump assembly to protect the pump from water damage.
Or the  stater motor on the back has lost a phase because one of the windings has shorted. If the cycle sounds normal and it doesn't sound like it's struggling then the problem is probably not going to be related to the motor. I've found most of these cases to be related to the control board itself.
    good luck

    Drum does not spin

I had similar problem recently. It turned out the main controller right above the drain hose exit on the back was the problem. I got a new board from MALBER and replaced it myself. It is working now.
