Sticking diverter valve

The heat is obviously not getting away from the boiler due to either a blockage or more likely a closed valve. check that the flow and return valves are opened as some people accidently turn the return off when putting pressure in the boiler. if these are open then it is likely that the diverter valve is sticking. you can sometimes get them going temporarily by stripping them down or a persuasive tap on the motor but will stick again. will need replacing if this is the case. i can get hold of the diverters if you require one so post a reply if you do and i will give you my details.

Boiler was underwater in flooded basement, is it really dangerous to try to ignite it after drying out as Peerless manual says?

The manual says this and you are asking me? I'd go with what the manual says or a technician in this field of work.

I have a 9610 thermostat turns on and off to frequently

I am guessing but the thermostat is either faulty or is in conflict with another thermostatic device in the system. The room thermostat measures the air temperature in the room but with a modern intelligent boiler there will be other sensors measuring all sorts of things including the water temperature.

Personally I prefer to have thermostatic radiator valves rather than a room or zone thermostat.

Be sure the thermocouple is still working, clean the contact points with crocus cloth and be sure the voltage going in to the controller is correct.

Johnson Starley boiler main board fuse blowing

Chances are the fuse on the circuit board is for control circuit protection. Take note of the location of all the thermostat connections on the circuit board and remove them. Do this with the power OFF. Replace the fuse and re establish power. If the fuse did not blow, the problem is in the wiring to or from the thermostat. It could even have the insulation rubbed through and making contact with the side of the boiler or a mouse could have chewed through the insulation causing a short to a metal object.

Once the issue with the thermostat wiring is resolved, reinstall the low voltage connections and you should be good to go.
