Question about Canon Elura 60 Mini DV Digital Camcorder

Camera will not charge

Out of the blue, the other day. the camera decided to just stop charging. the camera is so dead it wont even turn on anymore. The little light doesnt come on when we plug it in either. Has anyone else had this problem? I'm hoping its just an issue with the charger or with the battery and not something internal on the camera.

I have the exact same problem.

Elura 60 has always worked perfectly, and today... after getting a complete battery charge overnight I ejected the MiniDV tape from the unit to switch tapes and then the unit would not close down on the new tape.

Camera appears dead and like it needs a power re-boot. There's not even any power to the unit to close the tape door. Battery is full, unit is plugged into AC, and it still seems to be dead. (with no power)

Anyone had any luck re-setting or getting the unit to work?

The charger is plugged into the camera but the camera is flashing orange and does not seem to be charging it. Is it the camera or the batteries?

Not a Solution: however my elura 60 did the same thing, for a while I was having the "photo button/zoom button" not working problem then out of nowhere the camera just never turned back on. It does not get power from either the battert or the charger. This it seem is a manufacturer defect. Gonna call cannon and complain!

If you know someone who has electrical testing equipment, they can test the charger to see if it is still putting out a charge. I doubt it is the battery because you said the charge light doesn't light when the unit is plugged in. Other than that, sounds like a bad component inside. Get it checked by a pro because you can get zapped or ruin something by poking around inside if you don't know what you are doing.

My one camera wont work anymore

Check camera charger output voltage with multimeter. If there is no problem with charger; charge camera battery to full charge. As a next step; check your camera battery voltage with multimeter. If battery is dead, replace battery with new one.

Nikon cool pics totally dead

The battery is most probably defect. and then,
The manual says:

Battery is exhausted.
When connecting to an electrical outlet using a Charging AC Adapter, the camera cannot be turned on.

  • Confirm all connections.
  • Off is selected for Charge by computer in the setup menu.
  • When charging by connecting the camera to a computer, battery charging stops when the camera is turned off.
  • When charging by connecting the camera to a computer, battery charging stops if the computer is suspended (sleeping), and the camera may turn off.
  • Depending upon computer specifications, settings, and status, it may be impossible to charge the battery inserted into the camera via computer connection.

So even when you think the battery is charged, it still can be empty. When a rechargeable battery is old, or not often used, it can lose its capacity, not being able to power the equipment it was meant for correctly.
To make sure your battery is good, you could try to check the voltage with a multi meter. The voltage should be slightly higher than the 3,6 Volt that is printed on the battery. like 3,8 Volt, when measured. if it is just a fraction lower than the 3,6 is is not fully charged and it will be much lower when put in a camera, after switching on the camera. When you measure 2,4 Volt, 1,2 Volt or even nothing you can be sure the battery is dead.

Best option then, would be to order a new battery. But if you know someone with a camera that has the same battery that works, ask if you can check your camera still works with a battery that is ok. because when in a rear situation it is you camera that is defective, you can save the mont for a new battery and look out for a new camera, because the batteries are not cheap.

My rebel t3i wont turn on!!!

I just bought a T3i and only used it 2 days of shooting. On third day, it's not turning on and it's 80 degree's. So not cold weather. Batteries are fully charged. When I put batter in and turn the switch on, the red light comes on for only a second and then nothing! Other times the red light won't even come on, period. As I said, I've only had it 3 days and it's dead....

Camera Wont turn on and blue light flashes

The possible answer is that batteries are past thier best now and even a 'full' charge is not delivering enough power. treat your self to new batteries.

Won't turn on, take charge, communicate

I have the same one and let it go dead all the time. It will take 5 - 10 minutes after you plug it in for the blue light to come on when it's dead. Mine recently decided to WOULD NOT charge. It turned out to be the three little pins on the charger were dirty and sticking. I used a cotton swab to clean them with some rubbing alcohol and a quick dab on the contacts of the headset. Works great now.
