Question about Whirlpool LEQ9858P Electric Dryer

1 Answer

Whirlpool LEQ9858PW0 Buzzes But Won't Start.

Our 3 year old Whirlpool Dryer (model no. LEQ9858PW0) will not start. The light comes on inside, the timer "ticks" when set to dry, but when I press the start button the machine just makes a "buzzing" sound.

My wife said when the problem started she heard a "pop" or "thud" sound...

I checked the thermal fuse by disconnecting the two wires and taping them together with electrical tape (metal connectors touching), but when I hit start it did the same thing...just makes a buzzing sound.

I had to replace the drive belt a year ago, and I checked it...and it is okay too.

PLEASE HELP.

Sounds as if wither you have a bad motor assy, or something haas fallen down into the "blower assy" preventing the motor form spinning.. in the back wher eyou tested your fuse, just to the left of that you see a large tubular housing (rounded on bottom", thats the cover for the blower , i believe its 3-4 screw holding it on, nad also the 2 screws visable when you remove the filter assy, the housing will pull off( you may need to wiggle it abit) and hopefully youll find a sock or something jammed in the blower assy

My Whirlpool Dryer GEW9868KQS has power, but won't start when the button is depressed. The sensing light comes on, but the dryer doesn't start. Any ideas?

It's probably either the start switch or door switch. Try bypassing the switch and see if it starts. If it does, you can either replace the switch or try taking it apart and fixing the switch yourself. (I had a switch that simply required a copper contact to be readjusted and its worked perfectly for several years)

Dryer wont start - no lights

Dryer door does not think it is closed. There is a sensor on the top of the door that is probably not making contact with the door. Trying pushing the top part of the door and holding it then press the start button.. if the unit starts running then you know what it is. I just had one of these dryers delivered today and had to find out about this by myself tonight!!

Dryer motor

if the motor buzzes when you push start then it is a bad motor.as long as the drum turns freely by hand.
