About a third of my songs play twice or 3 times in a row. Tech support says that is because they were corrupt files or I entered them more than once. That is not the case. Also, when I turn it on a green window shows refreshing database. 3 different people in tech support had me erase everything, reset settings. Made no difference. Anmy help would be greatly appreciated.
It is your motherboard, since sansa works from a flash, i doubt it could be the flash. if it is still under warranty then I suggest you take it back, if not then send it to my company and we can give you a good deal on a new motherboard to fix your problem.

BAK files are very important, explanation below:
Consider what AutoCAD does during a QSAVE (assuming "create BAK" is enabled)
1. It writes the contents of the editor to a temp file.
2. It renames the current drawing from .DWG to .BAK
3. It renames the temp file to the correct file name with a .DWG extension.
I don't see how you have had problems with BAK files since it's simply a copy of your last save. In fact, if you QSAVE twice in a row, then your BAK = the DWG.
I am a former IBM customer engineer. I have replaced thousands of cycle clutch springs in the 80's. IBM was known for supporting the typewriters by manufacturing parts twice to three times as long as other companies. Call their parts department. I purchased third party parts from AMES and Tech Support. Both companies were located in Atlanta Georgia. Those two companies also sold the tools that are needed to replace the part. Then you need a tech. Cycle clutches are not easy to replace.
Funny I found this forum because I've been having the same problem. My understanding is that subscription services (yahoo music, iTunes, etc.) don't come in an mp3 file format. You can, however, add songs from cd's you own.
Here's a link you might find helpful. It's from the Sansa Forums. One of the posters describes how you can convert files. I don't know how complicated it is. Good luck! :) http://forums.sandisk.com/sansa/board/message?board.id=shaker&thread.id=121
I understand your frustration! I've been having the same problem. I just wasted TWO HOURS trying to get music to download onto this Shaker. The extra $40 for a better device would have been worth it! I can't afford to buy all the cd's that I'd need to fill this player with the songs my son likes. I'm thinking of bringing it back!
