Question about Dishwashers

Problems Keeping the cycle going

Bosch dishwasher, Ascenta SHE4AM1. I start any cycle("active" light is lit). I hear a quiet whirring as it starts up. Then the spraying starts, but only lasts 5-10 seconds and then quits. The "active" light goes out and the "clean" light comes on. Then it sits silently until I turn it off.

Things I have tried:
1. Ran the hot water tap in the sink nearby. It took 4 tries, but the cycle held and ran for the prescribed length of time. The "active" light went out and the "clean" came on and it sat silently for most of the night. When I finally openned the door, there was water in the bottom (about 1 inch).
2. Tried all the cycles, same behavior for each , "active" light on, cycle started, after about a minute or so, spraying stopped and "clean" light came on. Cycle seemed to end - washer became silent and sat with the "clean" light on).
3. Made sure water supply was turned on. It was.

There is no selector swith on the front of the Bosch Ascenta SHE4AM1. Maybe there is a component with a similar purpose? Or there is a recovery code which can be set becuase the washer is wating for the pass-throuigh heater to get the water in the input line hot enough?

On the back of the selector switch there is a timer motor or clock motor assembly. The gears wear out or the motor has lost its ability to go through the cycles. Replace it and you should be fine.

Bosch Dishwasher will not power on

I saw my repair man do the following, which you might try...
Open the door and simultaneously press & hold down the power button with the 2 buttons used on your model to "Cancel & Drain." If the unit comes on it now is in self-diagnosis mode. Release the buttons and close the door. The unit should start to fill with water. Press the power button to exit the mode.

Loud humming noise when dishwasher is filling up with water

your model is pretty new. just so you know your warrenty is 1 year parts and labor. 2 years on parts. it should not cost that much money.

there are two components that start before the circulation pump.(wash noise you hear)

first sounds you hear will be the drain pump. usually rattling noises if something is in it but it can make a hum noise if something is jamming the drain propeller up. which is accessible with a T20 torx driver. take the filters out and the mesh filter. and unscrew the screw in the base towards the left. pull out whatever is lodged.

the other humming sound can come from the next component that activates is the watervalve. make sure you dont have a kinked water intake line. otherwise its a bad valve. i have had to change a few of those water valves out already but not for a hum noise on your model. you have a new style water valve. when brands make new parts we get problems fast sometimes..
