I can't get my tuner to work, but everything else works fine. All I get is static went I turn to the radio stations on both FM/AM

If you are in a fringe area you might need an external antenna to work with your tuner. Happens.

Fm radio works fine but the dab will not find any stations, I have tried different aerials and still no good

What's the make & model of the radio?
Most DAB/FM radios work from the same antenna, so if you receive FM stations, you should receive DAB stations in your area.
It should be noted that DAB transmitters work on lower power than conventional FM transmitters, and so you may be in a weak reception area (for DAB). It should also be noted that DAB uses different frequencies than regular FM stations and household appliances such as laptops,WiFi, microwave ovens, etc can affect DAb reception.

I have an older onkyo integra (TX-870) which pop when I change stations, then no sound. Need to turn off and begin again. Can this be fixed or should I purchase a new 2 channel sys?

Hi, It sounds like you are listening F.M. radio and the F.M. muting button is engaged ( as well it should be-otherwise you will have static between the stations ) sometimes there is almost a "THUMP" sound when you switch stations-this is caused by the receivers P.L.L. circuitry losing then locking in on stations, if you do not lower the system volume you will amost assuredly cause an overload of your final drivers, that's why it will come back on when turned off-it has reset. Turning off fm muting will get rid of the "POPPING" noise-it will however leave you with unbearable static which in turn should cause you to lower volume momentarily eliminating the need to constantly turn off the receiver. Thank for asking FixYa, I hope this helps, let me know how I did or if I can be of more assistance, good luck Prodzilla

I want a MANUAL for TELEFUNKEN (radio machine 1958) Super Heterodyne D778 WK TROT. My father own this from my grandfather and it does not tune to radio stations. Please let me know if you can help us with...

Hi, I will do the best I can to help you. I remember these radios from my childhood. There may be some things you can do to help it tune to FM radio stations. On the back of the radio, there should be 2 screws referring to an "FM" antenna. If the radio is making a "hissing" sound through the speaker, but you are not picking up any stations, then connect a single wire about 1.5 meters in length to the screw labeled "FM antenna". The other screw, if it is labeled "ground" leave with no wire attached. Make sure that the wire you use does not touch both screws. The piece of wire should act as an FM antenna. If that is the only issue, then you should pick up radio stations.
That is a very well made, good quality radio, but it is over 50 years old.
Here is a link to Telefunken in Germany. They may be able to find a manual for you.

I would suggest having someone fill out the request in English.
I hope I have helped you. Let me know.

How do I preset the tuner for radio stations. I've never had a problem doing this with any other stereo. But what I think should work isn't!

Not very specific. Do you have the manual?

The following is from a VSX-03TXH manual. It ain't pretty but it may help.

I'm posting it in multiple parts due to space contraints.

Chapter 6:

Using the tuner

Listening to the radio

The following steps show you how to tune in to FM and

AM radio broadcasts using the automatic (search) and

manual (step) tuning functions. If you already know the

frequency of the station you want, see Tuning directly to a

station below. Once you are tuned to a station you can

memorize the frequency for recall later-see Saving

station presets below for more on how to do this.

1 Press the FM/AM button to select the tuner.

2 Use the FM/AM button to change the band (FM or

AM), if necessary.

Each press switches the band between FM and AM.

3 Tune to a station.

There are three ways to do this:

Automatic tuning

To search for stations in the currently selected band,

press and hold TUNE ?©/?? for about a second. The

receiver will start searching for the next station,

stopping when it has found one. Repeat to search for

other stations.

Manual tuning

To change the frequency one step at a time, press

TUNE ?©/??.

High speed tuning

Press and hold TUNE ?©/?? for high speed tuning.

Release the button at the frequency you want.

Improving FM stereo sound

If the TUNED or STEREO indicators don't light when

tuning to an FM station because the signal is weak, press

the MPX button to switch the receiver into mono

reception mode. This should improve the sound quality

and allow you to enjoy the broadcast.

Using Neural THX

This feature uses Neural Surround™, THX® technology to

achieve optimal surround sound from FM radio.

• While listening to FM radio, press AUTO/DIRECT for
Neural THX listening.

The phono works, but i get no sound when tuner on

This usually means that the tuner is not getting sufficient reception for the station you are trying to listen to.

Receivers come with cheap wire loop antennas try upgrading to a powered FM antenna available online or at your local Radio Shack.

Hope that helps

I can barely hear sound even when turned all the way up

Turn-off all "surround sound" modes. Try listening to just a plain AM or FM talk station. Then you can check your speaker wiring. Some stereo programming can turn into nothing with certain surround modes, so make sure that your speaker wiring is correct by using the radio or CD player with it first.

Alas

This is a very common fault with these units, repair is a little expensive, as it's the FM tuner unit. It's an ebay job I'm afraid, pay around £45 for a second hand 6000 with code.
