I was reading on this sight about this problem one expert said something about you could unplug a b+ connector in the tv and it should power up if the stk392-040 convergency part was bad the only problem is I can't find (inside the tv) a b+ connector maybe I don't know what it looks like. What if I tried to power it without the stk392-040 board plugged in at all.

- You guy's are the best.I took a chance a did what you said changed the stk's, got them off ebay for 26 bucks with shipping and new solder gun and solder.Lucky to have good friends that did the soldering for me.Put the board back in t.v. actually works.Made me and my wife so happy. Thanks again for all you help
IF THE B+ SUPPLY IS BEING PULLED DOWN DUE TO A SHORTED IC. UNPLUGGING THE CONVERGENCE BOARD MAY ALLOW THE SET TO COME ON. COMFIRMING YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE CONVERGENCE IC AND POSSIBLE IC'S.

Sharp Md# 56DR650, rear proj.Problem starts after about 3 hrs. of being on. Starts with slight flashing in backround, then progresses to loss of most color except yellow and blue, almost like a negative. Then image starts to jump side to side of screen. Worth fixing??, or should I dump it and get a new one. It's only a little over 2 yrs. old.

I had the blinking view timer issue, my Sharp would turn off after 20 minutes of view time. I replaced both convergence ICs, and the TV is staying on (I left it on over 3 hours as a test). However, I'm not able to adjust the convergence - the red is way off. Would this still be a Convergence IC problem, or does sound more like an issue with a resistor somewhere?
