IF THE B+ SUPPLY IS BEING PULLED DOWN DUE TO A SHORTED IC. UNPLUGGING THE CONVERGENCE BOARD MAY ALLOW THE SET TO COME ON. COMFIRMING YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE CONVERGENCE IC AND POSSIBLE IC'S.

I have rear projection tv sharp 55u-wp7h. Unable to turn on tv due to view timer automatic turn on. what cause that and how to fix the problem?

I'm having same issue with same TV. It powers off after about an hour and red power light starts flashing. Only way to power back on is by unplugging TV and waiting a while, then plugging it back in, but then the TV will turn off again after a few more minutes, red light flashing again. I've checked the sleep timer and it is turned off, so any other solutions to this problem? All capacitors on power board look fine (not blown). I've read it could be solder joints in power board need to be resoldered.

View timer keeps blinking..tv wont turn on.nobody set view timer..is there a reset button? tried to unplug but no luck

Mute + 1 + 8 + 2 + Power.

Your TV set should now say “Loading Factory”.

Browse down to “Option” then press Enter (or the right cursor button).

NOTE: The Mute+1+8+2 buttons need to be pressed down consecutively and fairly quickly. If your TV does not enter the service menu after using this combination, you can substitute MENU instead of MUTE. This seems to work for some sets. Also, the right cursor arrow also acts as the ENTER button, so try it if you’re having difficulty with the ENTER button.

To exit the service menu, hit press the EXIT button or just turn off your TV (remember not to turn on your TV immediately afterward!)

View timer blinking and TV will not turn on

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. The power supply of your sharp TV might have failed. It could be due to swollen/bulged capacitors on the power board. It can also be due to the Flyback transformer, which generates the high voltages(part of high voltage circuit). If you have disassembled the TV before then you can check for the swollen cap.s and also for any loose connector cables from power board to other boards.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks Rylee

Problem with stk's & low olm resistors on 55 in. Sharp

It's always best to remove one leg, however there tolerance is so close you should be able to get an exact ohm reading, and I mean exact. Some are connected in parallel so if they're 6.8 ohm then you'll read 3.4. What is the number of the STK's you changed?
Yes, I would replace them again.

Premtech suggest you unplug that. I unplugged the bigger of the 3 and it came on but looked horrible. Ordered up some stk392-040s installed and my tv came on still looked funny. After talking some via email wiht premtech I found that one the low ohm resistors was faulty replaced it and bam back to sittin on the couch and enjoying tv.

VIEW TIMER

Try unplugging the B+ to the convergence circuit and see if it will power up.. If so replace the convergence amps, two STK392-040 and check all the low ohm resistors.
