Re install new cards Canada/US

It may be possible that the new card you purchased (assuming it is for a new map) is for a map (version) that is compatible for your TomTom GPS. (It may be more helpful if you indicate the card/map and your TomTom GPS model) If you had purchased the card from TomTom ... contact TomTom for help.

Often, it is easier to buy a new map directly from the tomtom.com website . That way you'll get the "right" map for your TomTom model. After you pay for it, you download the map directly into your GPS (using the HOME application) and activate it. If you have any problem, you can contact TomTom right away and they'll help you to get it done right.

I turned my tomtom xl model:4eto3 and there is a red x flashing on the screen..this goes away when i plug in the usb, however the device is still not functional. i found online that this occurs when there...

Even though you say you have never updated it, now you have no choice but to update it so it can be fixed. Download tomtom home from the tomtom website and install it then connect your device and let it search for updates for the XL . That should fix it for you

How do you cancel the route on this thing my other on was easy to figure out but on this one I need help. Thanks Kirk

Hi,

Here's your fix!  Download the XL/XL330 series manual from this TomTom site.  It should give you more than enough info:

Good luck.  Thanks, Bill

Updates problem

Well if it won't provide any updates if a: your device is up to date or b: it has already downloaded all the relevant updates recently. To solve the second issue, you can simply rename the folder 'TomTom' under my documents to 'TomTomOLD', rerun HOME to force it to check for and redownload any recent updates.

Deleaying directions

Hi,

I am not sure exactly what your problem is as you don't give much detail but I assume you are having problems with your TomTom continuing to give directions to some destination you already went to.

To stop previous directions :
  • Tap the screen
  • Move Right through the pages available until you see Icon for "Clear Route"
  • Select " Clear Route " and the directions should stop
  • Remember , each time you use your TomTom to go to a new destination once you have got there you will need to clear the route ( as above ) in order to stop your TomTom trying to take you there again.
Good Luck

Delay in gps signal

Try taking it outside away from buildings, the unit needs to have a clear view of the sky. If it is in a car then you may need an external antenna,
