Maytag microwave cook delay - first minute on timer no heating, then works fine

My parents new Maytag microwave oven has a strange problem, almost like there is some kind of cook delay feature that stops it from heating the first minute on the timer, then it begins. Is this a feature we are not aware of? Or is this a malfunction of some kind? How to fix? thx

Not a feature I've heard of.

I would do a hard reset by unplugging the oven for a minute or two, setting the clock, then trying again.

If it still does this, I would contact Maytag customer service at the number in the owner's manual.

Maytag microwave suddenly stopped working, overheated, nothing was cooking.

It is more than likely the magnetron is fried, to replace fuse! unplug microwave oven, remove top, "several screws" look to the right to the keypad control board, look down to a printed circuit board, clipped fuse should be near by, pop it out and replace with same current rating, assemble before testing, "lethal voltages present"

Timer functions, fan works, great humming noise, no heat. Magnetron??

If there is no heat at all, but you can hear the magnetron humming, it is probably bad. if there is uneven heat, the wave stirrer that distributes the microwaves around the cooking chamber may be bad. it will heat only one spot unless the wave stirrer is rotating.

Locked timer/keypad

Try unplugging it for a few minutes. If that fails, read the owners manual for instructions on how to unlock.

My Maytag microwave stopped heating. Everything

Generally the magnetron (the part that heats the food) is the cause if everything else still works. Unfortunately replacing the magnetron is barely cheaper than buying a new microwave though you can check out repairclinic.com to decide whether you want to attempt replacing the part.

Let me know how this works out for you.

Maytag Microwave model MMV5165BAS. Doesn't heat

HI. in most cases, this will lead to a failed Heating device(magnetron tube). It would be wise to check the Magnetron cutoff fuse to be sure of its integrity. if the fuse is blown, simply replace it. if the fuse continues to show continuity, replace the magnetron.

(((The fuse is located inside the unit along side the magnetron)))
