If it did not work your other option is reboot and hit f1 or f2 to change the boot sequence on boot option. Restart pc then hit f2 go to boot option and choose DVD/CD to be your first boot option then press f10 restart and it should load automatically.

Cannot get the computer to boot up

it may be a missing or crupted start file, your best bet it to perform a hdd recovery by turning your computer on then when the loading screen appears and gives the option of hitting f1 f2 f3 and so on, you need to hit f8 and follow the steps on the screen. hoped this helped

My computer starts on black screen... drive 1 not found: serial ATA, SATA-2.. strike the F1 to continue, F2 to run.. if i press F1 it says NTLDR is missing what di i do? I have the operating sys. disk..

  • Insert the Windows XP CD-ROM into the CD drive, and then restart the computer.
  • Click to select any options that are required to start the computer from the CD drive if you are prompted.
  • When the "Welcome to Setup" screen appears, press R to start the Recovery Console.
  • Press 1 (One) to select windows XP and then hit enter.
  • When you are prompted, type the Administrator password. If the administrator password is blank, just press ENTER.
  • At the command prompt, start typing

COPY D:\i386\ntldr C:\ (Considering that D is your CD Rom Drive)
COPY D:\i386\ntdetect C:\ (a file that may also be missing)

Then rebuild the boot configuration boot.ini file by
Attrib -H -R -S C:\boot.ini (if not found skip the next line)
DEL C:\boot.ini
BootCfg /Rebuild

Heloo sir i have a problem with my dell 170l when i start it it shows ''strike F1 to continue, F2 to run the setup utility'' when i click f1 it show ''f1 to retry boot,f2 for setup utility'' plz help me...

Hit F2,look in setup to see if the hard drive is recognized and check that the date and time are correct.
Then hit esc key. it will ask if you want to save changes, click yes. It should boot and probably ask you to hit F1 or F2 again., unless there is a problem with the CMOS battery, which may need to be replaced.
If you hit F1 to continue, it will boot, but your time and date will be off.

to go to bios setting either u can hit F2 or F1 key. then u change the boot priority. set it to cd-rom device.
after that u can boot from any bootable cd.

for your operating system problem, boot from the xp bootable cd after setting boot priority, and then repair or reinstall your operating system. some files might have been corrupted.

Boot problems, have to hit F1 to boot to windows

Can you get it to go into windows at all?

Did you actually change the CPU?

When it says to hit F1, keep hitting it repeatedly, you will kow it acepted it when you hear a little beep from the P.C. Case

then it should go into bios. if not, then it may not be recongnizing the keyboard.

typically this issue occures because the internal clock is off do to apower shortage or the Bios battery has dies. Its a little watch battery on the system board. If you can get into windows, check the date and time, set it and it should sync the bios clock.

Let me know how it goes.

How to change the boot option in IBM 6578-PBU desktop

I searched for hours for a solution to this. Here it is:

1). Restart your computer, NOT using ctrl - alt - del
2). Press F1 when guided to.
3). When you get into the config menu, select Start Options, then hit enter twice.

There are all the options you need! Cool, huh?
