Re: front usb

In case you don't have it, here is the manual for your motherboard: Unfortunately, this motherboard does not appear to have USB headers on the motherboard itself so the only way that you can connect up the front motherboard headers is by getting an USB PCI card that has headers on it. Something simillar to this:

Front panel connection to mother board Power switch pin

Hi careyfraser,

1. There are 8 wires from the front panel's casing, excluding USB connectors and front audio cable.

2. Just plug the front panel switch headers to the F_Panel main board connectors. 1 & 2 are positive, if the led do not light change polarity but Im sure it will.

Note:The mainboard provides a front panel connector for electrical connection to the front panel switches and LEDs. JFP1 is compliant with Intel® Front Panel I/O Connectivity Design Guide.

Hopefully this information helps.

I have a pentium 4pc, the tyan s2090 motherboard went out, is there another motherboard that would work with the processor & other parts?

Certainly, tons of them. You have to look at them and find one that supports the P4 processor and has the connections in the correct locations for your case though. Asus has a series of motherboards that would work and Tyan has other versions as well. The selection you make sure support the processor you have, the type of hard drive interface you have and with luck the Ram and any other devices you may have. Today's motherboards don't have as many expansion slots as some older ones because they are building everything onto the motherboard. So take that into consideration.

Open your manual to page 40. Your better off download the manual. You'll need Adobe Reader to view the manual. Using the program Adobe you can zoom in which will help greatly. You'll be able to see exactly where each wire goes. Here is the link for your manual;
Figure 20. Internal Headers. Intel Desktop Board D945GCNL Product Guide. If your USB wires should be marked. To help you connect the correct wire to the USB MB pins use the guide provided below;
There are a few different types for USB connections. You'll find one just for your MB on the site.

Computer keeps re-booting while installing any operating system

Were the two power supplies you tried inclusive of the original failed drive or not. In other words did you try a total a 3 power supplies including the one that failed?

If not, please do so. That is, immediately analyze the original known part failure, the power supply or its connection to the board(s) you have tried.

Congratulations for such an exhaustive process of elimination.

Tyan S5396 and Thermaltake 1500W

tyan i5400xt.. to test for ground.. pull the board from the chassis and test with a different known good power supply

if the boot works... then you have a power supply issue...

does the board have a post code lighted signal ???

if so.. a bad power supply should goto FF error code

verify you have enough power on the cpu rail with your power supply specifications also

be sure you have all cables 4 pin 8 pin and 20/24 pin connections done correctly.. lastestly check if the board is touching the chassis edge anywhere... could cause a ground

also take and loosen all the MB screws from the chassis.. just let it hang there this will test the grounds needs the screw connections

Tyan le s2510 reconnection to case panel

If you go to Tyan ftp site you should have no problem finding the .pdf version of your manual with all jumper and connection settings. I would do so quickly, as the company is making changes to the website. Also, if you look very closely the front panel connections are usually printed on the board but can be difficult to read.

Making a bench machine on the tyan dual core pentium III mother board

If you had no problems installing the XP second time around your problem is definitely not the harddrive. Suspect that that error you got was a blue screen. You problem most probably lies with your memory modules (RAM) if you are using more than one memory module then you need to check that they work on the same frequency (probably not since you are having this problem) If you are in fact using more than one module try just using one. If you only have one then you might try another as this one could be faulty. As to NTFS it is the best suitable format for XP therefore that is not a problem. Let me know how things turn out. Thanks
