Digital rebel XS - flash delay

I wrote in another thread....when i take a picture a picture in the AF mode, or any mode for that matter, the falsh will go off but the picture is very dark and fuzzy (even at the recommended distance). After i take the photo the flash will go off again (about 4-5 seconds later) I have re-charged mybattery and reset the camera to its orignal settings. The picture qualilty was really great...what happened?

Your camera is set to syncronize the flash on the second shutter curtain. Check your custom functions/custom settings, and disable it. It's called "second curtain sync" or "2nd curtain sync". Nikon call it "Rear Sync".
Hope this helps,
/Chris

I have a EOS Rebel XS camera with a 18-55mm lens. Every time I try to zoom in both lens and the picture are blurry. Am I just in the wrong settings?

make sure the lens is not in manual mode. on the side there is MF and AF make sure its in AF for auto focus. id its still looking nblurr in the viewfinder when pressing the shutter half way then user the smal wheel next to the viewfinder so the viewfinder is calibrated for your eye.

Hi, i have recently bought a used canon 1000d. it worked fine at first after about 500 shots, it cant work in AF mode please advise thanks

Do you have the switch on the lens set to AF and also you have to go into the settings and set the focus to AF it might have accidentally got switched to MF on the lens or in the camera settings. if they both aren't set to AF then it wont work Hope this helps

Flash pre-firing like mad?

It is your camera using the flash to assist in focusing, if it bothers you you can change it in your menus, I have a XTi so yours will differ slightly.
Switch your camera to "P" mode.
Press "Menu" button.
Go to setup menu 3
scroll down to "Custom Functions (C Fn.)"
Press "set".
press to the right until you find "AF - assist beam"
Press "set".
And press up or down.
Set to "Does not emit"
press "set"
Press "menu" button twice.

Cannot take picture

Check the switch on the side of the lens, it should be in "AF" not "M". The switch turns the motor in the lens on and off. If the switch is set to "M" the automatic mode on the camera will not work.
