Hi!
Are you unable to connect using both usb or bluetooth??
There are essentially three ways to connect your Palm to your PC via Bluetooth: Use PPP Software and a Bluetooth Serial Profile -- this uses a "virtual" serial port to communicate to the PC. MochaPPP and SoftickPPP allows the Palm to share the desktop's internet connection. This method works with the most Palm OS releases and versions of Microsoft Windows. It also sheilds you from details about IP addresses and such
Windows 2000/XP Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) and a Bluetooth LAN Access Profile -- this uses a direct connection to the PC. Windows 2000 and XP include a feature called Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) that allows the Palm to share the desktop's internet connection.
Windows XP Remote Access Server (RAS) and a Bluetooth Serial Access Profile -- This is an alternate connection method for Windows XP that is similar to #1 above in that it uses a virtual serial connection but doesn't require MochaPPP.

Ask for any clarifications

You can also create another palm user identity on the TX already which has been hot-sync-ed before by bluetooth on previous computer. For this example, that TX user identity is called TXorigUser

    1. Install Belkin bluetooth software onto your pc or laptop. When prompted to create a bluetooth name for the laptop go ahead and make one up, [eg.pcnew]. From the services offered you will need to choose hot-sync[.tm], not active-sync,. I unchecked secure connections, as my sensitive data is already encrypted, and I didn't want to risk problems. A new port will be created [com4] [which Palm Desktop will later use when it creates a hotsync sys-tray button].

    2. These next 2 parts need to be done carefully on the TX as stated, not by double clicking the bluetooth button on the TX which will not bring up the right options. On the TX go to: Preferences / Communications / Bluetooth [switch it on if it isn't already, and make discoverable]. Create a bluetooth identity for the TX if there isn't one already, eg txblue.

    3. On the same screen, bottom centre, click on setup devices, next screen select: 'pc setup' click the second option 'bluetooth setup' and find your equivalent of pcnew in the nearby devices [assuming the pc has bluetooth switched on and is in discoverable mode].

    4. Pair the TX bluetooth identity with the laptop bluetooth identity, another name needs to be created for the pairing. [eg.PairTXnew]. The TX should prompt for a user-name and password for the computer which is your actual Windows XP [administrator] user-account [eg.MyXP and password].

    5. You will be prompted to create a unique password of between I think 4 and 32 characters for the pairing, probably first by the computer and then the TX will be requesting it too. The two devices will use it to automatically check identity before accepting the pairing.

    6. Before hot-syncing, click the computer's systray hotsync icon, Setup/local/com4, com4 is only available when the Belkin bluetooth dongle is in and live [bluetooth sys-tray icon blue/white].

    Thanks

Ok, first, which COM is your Bluetooth Serial Port using?

Second, here's what you need to do for Palm Desktop 6.2:

  1. Double click on the HotSync Manager icon
  2. Select the Connections button on the left
  3. Check the Box next to Bluetooth.
  4. Click Done

Palm Desktop compatibility with Windows 7 and 64-bit editions Palm Desktop 6.2 was designed for 32-bit editions of Windows XP and Windows Vista. You may be able to use this software with other versions of Windows.
Windows 7: Many users have successfully installed and used Palm Desktop 6.2 with Windows 7. Palm has not done thorough testing with a range of third-party equipment running Windows 7, therefore Palm cannot guarantee compatibility.
64-bit editions of Windows: USB HotSync is not supported. Instead, synchronize through a Bluetooth wireless connection: set up Bluetooth HotSync.

Hooking a Palm TX to internet on bluetooth cell phone

6620 blue tooth is supported on Palm TX. Im not sure about Gzone. It does have limitations to it when using you TX to connect to a bluetooth cell phone for data service.

You can try the GPRS cell phone setting and see if it recognizes it that way.

    HotSync Problem!!

You have at least one application that is attempting a serial connection with the PC and is triggering hotsync instead. Many palm apps that allow live updating to your device when cradled or over blue-tooth can cause this type of error. I would take inventory of any software you added recently to your device or port settings you may have changed, especially regarding direct connect and cradle settings.

    Error message using IrComm port

Hi, Right click on hotsync manager at the bottom right corner of the pc , make sure only local serial and ir is having a check mark , if anything else has check mark , just go to that and do a left click , it will get unchecked . On the handheld tap on home , on the main page u will see hotsync icon , tap on that , on the hotsync page make sure via ir , and not cradle or cable , then at the top u will see hotsync in words , tap on that , in the drop down u will see lan sync pref, tap on that and make sure lan sync is highlighted , and not local hot sync , since local hotsync is usefull only when u perform cradle or cable hot sync using usb , then click on ok , try a hotsync . If this doesnt help and again u get the same error , do a soft reset on the handheld and on the pc , go into hotsync manager , click on setup , choose local , change the com port to a different port and reduce the speed to 9600 , click on ok restart the pc and again perform a hotsync . The error u got was coz of this , on ur pc a ir port is not been assigned .. Try this it should work .. Regards
