Hi Pat, I'd test F1 on the tcon board to see if it's blown, if it tests ok try a main board, only way to know for sure if the main is outputting video to the tcon would be with a scope
I assume when you say unhooking one of the ribbon connectors leaves half the screen white or black and the other has a picture, if you've replaced he tcon and it didn't fix it your going to find your panel is bad, a main board shouldn't cause your issue as long as unhooking one of the ribbon connectors gives half a picture
F1 is commonly a communication error between the indoor and outdoor units. Try turning off the power to the air con at the isolator outside or in the meter box for 15 to 30 minutes then switch on again. Sometimes, it resolves the problem. If not, its likely to be an electronic board fault. Either indoor or outdoor.
unplug the t-con board its in the middle between the speakers, look on the bard (T-con) and look for F1 and F2 these are fuses, you will need a meter to check them, if blown replace them they usually 3amp rating.
