For a 2004 chevy avalanche
The easiest way is to open the hood and on top of each headlight assembly is a L-shaped rod. lift up the one bent end of the rod and slide it out of the assembly. lower the light assebly towards the bumper to expose the back of the bulb plugs. Unscrew the dead bulb and replace. (as stated before. DO NOT TOUCH THE BULB) grease from your fingers creates a hot spot on the bulb and it will fail much sooner than expected. hope this helps.
You change it from within the engine compartment.... behind the headlight bazel on each side. if the bulb is on the battery side you will likely have to remove it first. please note... don't touch the bulb with your fingers as that shortens the lifetime of the bulb.
