Question about PC Laptops

I need some parts for my Acer 2010 (2012 WLMI) notebook

I have to replace a broken right side hinge between the keyboard and screen parts of the notebook along the plastic center cover which cracked when I tried to close the notebook with the broken hinge, but Acer doesn't seem to want to deal with any customer who is out of warranty. Is there an aftermarket solution that you are aware of? I could probably do it myself if I had access to the parts and just a little bit of instruction.

    Thanks Thund,

I was able to find a repair manual but not the parts, at least not yet. I look a little deeper when I've a bit more time, but I appreciate your lead very much. It's quite possible that the repair manual will provide me with part numbers I need and a list of suppliers where I might obtain them. Thanks Again.

Go onto ebay,,and look for the model of your laptop, you should be able to find the parts for around $10

Also Craigslist is a good source,,and you may want to go to your local used computer store, if they cannot supply the parts, they can certainly tell you who has them.
    Best of luck

Lcd hinges cracked

The parts you're looking for are called "display panel hinges" You can buy these parts from compaq/hp directly, but personally, I would call, find out the part number and try to find a cheaper place to purchase them. A detailed video on removing the LCD panel completely can be found here. This will show you how to remove the broken hinges, and on the left side of the page, you can select videos that will show you how to do practically everything else. To get your replacement parts go to the compaq website (I couldn't find the part without the serial) or call 1-800-227-8164. There is also a live chat option once you go to the support section of the website. You may be able to rig the display so it works without buying a part, but now that you have the information, it's up to you. I hope this helps!

Replacing the whole monitor screen and bezel

Usually there is a plastic cover that snaps off right about the keyboard that covers the hinges. It is sometimes screwed from the bottom of the notebook thought. Once that is removed you should have a clearer view of what needs to be done. Sometimes there is a few screws from the bottom or back of the system that hold the hinges and sometimes the screws are on top of the hinges. You should also see all the cables that go from the screen to the system, unplug those. Hopefully that is all you need to do, but sometimes you have to remove the keyboard and palmrest to get the screen off. Good Luck!
