Question about Toshiba Satellite A135-S2276 Notebook
Systrem will operate when running the recovery disk but after recovery still will not fully boot. Does get to safe boot option and if safe is chosen the system stops after about one full page or messages-always in the same place. On initial boot, the screen shows the toshiba logo and 2 shadow copies
Try reinstalling windows vista. back up your data and reinstall using the recovery disc

Did you try booting your computer in Safe mode to check if you receive this error message?
1. Use F8 while restarting the computer.
2. Under Windows Advanced Boot Options select Safe mode and hit Enter.
Check if you receive this error message in Safe mode.
It seems like your drive might be corrupted. If your computer is still under warranty, I would suggest you to contact them to get a replacement. But before you contact them, let us see whether Check disk utility would make a way to boot windows succesfully or not.
If you've Windows Vista Operating System disc, then try running the check disk utility from Windows Recovery Environment.
1. Put the Windows Vista installation disc in the disc drive, and then start the computer.
2. Press a key when you are prompted.
3. Select a language, a time, a currency, a keyboard or an input method, and then click Next.
4. Click Repair your computer.
5. Click the operating system that you want to repair, and then click Next.
6. In the System Recovery Options dialog box, click Command Prompt.
7. Type the following command and press enter.
Once your machine has finished repairing the hard drive, type EXIT and press ENTER to restart your laptop.
You can also try typing the following command if Check disk fails to fix the issue. At the same command prompt, type fixboot and press enter.
For your information: If you've a Dell Laptop, then according to Dell, the error code 2000-0142 is a Drive Self Test failed error code. To run the check disk utility you will need a repair disc or
a operating system disc. Put the disc in the cd drive and boot from
it. You want to get to the Dos Command Prompt (Black screen with white
letters) and type the following command: chkdsk /r
Check disk will run well over an hour or two and you will notice the percentages going from high to low, this is normal. Let it run to completion. Then reboot machine.
If check disk fails to solve your problem you might have to reinstall windows. Try doing a Repair Install that way you don't loose your data, documents, music, pictures, videos or programs.
In windows xp you get to the dos command prompt by selecting R for repair when the options appear.
In Vista and Windows 7 you want to get to the recovery console and look down at the bottom of the window for the Dos Command.
