My alienware with windows7 will turn on but has a missing operating sys message. I can't start it in safe mode.

In the bios see if you can run a HDD check/scan.
Do you have a Windows 7 recovery disk (DVD)
If you do boot from the recovery disk. you should be able to recover the OS.
Or even use some tools to check the HDD (Hard Drive)

Normally this can either be a corruption, or a failed HDD.

sounds like the Hard Disk is failing. try booting into safe mode by Pressing F8 Before the Windows 7 Splash Screen. The run diagnostics on the C Drive. Open Recovery by clicking the Start button 4f6cbd09-148c-4dd8-b1f2-48f232a2fd33_818.jpg, and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type recovery, and then click Recovery.
You can use Recovery to restore the state of your computer's system to a previous point in time, or restore the contents of your hard disk from a backup. You can also reinstall Windows from a recovery image installed on your hard disk.

Won't boot disk light steady on

unplug and wait a min. or so, plug in, try again. if that fails, reboot, try a system restore/recovery. If that fails, boot to safe mode with networking, download MALWAREBYTES freeware at : http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/ Run a FULL SCAN, DELETE ALL RESULTS, REBOOT. Can't get computer to open in safe mode

Run the Check Disk Utility, you've got some missing or corrupted boot or system files.

To run the check disk utility you will need a repair disc or a operating system disc. Put the disc in the cd drive and boot from it. You want to get to the Dos Command Prompt (Black screen with white letters) and type the following command: chkdsk /r
Check disk will run well over an hour or two and you will notice the percentages going from high to low, this is normal. Let it run to completion. Then reboot machine.

If check disk fails to solve your problem you might have to reinstall windows. Try doing a Repair Install that way you don't loose your data, documents, music, pictures, videos or programs.

In windows xp you get to the dos command prompt by selecting R for repair when the options appear.

In Vista and Windows 7 you want to get to the recovery console and look down at the bottom of the window for the Dos Command.

Failed to read instructions at 0x00dd1b39 at 0x00000000 when booting up

This is not (directly at least) an hard disk problem but an error in some software. It could be that a damaged hard disk is making the wrong code execute, but I think likelier that you have a damaged operating system.

If it's a Windows OS, as the message suggests, try booting from the recovery CD and performing a repair (or a System Restore from a recovery point when the system was working), or try booting in Safe Mode by pressing F8 key at startup.

Recovery CD not loading onto Hard Drive.

Your optical drive is not reading the disk properly - a common issue as time goes by. Replace drive with a good known working unit and your recovery operation will take place.

Trouble booting!

You could attempt to boot to safe mode, and run the Start> System Recovery > PC Recovery Application.

Otherwise, I'd boot to safe mode, select start, run, type: msconfig, select the startup tab, remove any unwanted startup items that may be causing the system crash.

Hope this helps.
