First, unplug the appliance and turn off the gas.

You will need to lift the top panel of the dryer by pulling it towards you and lifting up. Sometimes placing a putty knife in the seam at the point where the retaining clips are along the front, will help to release it.

With the top panel released, disconnect the door switch connector wires and ground wire on the front panel. Remove the two screws that hold the front panel to the side panels. There will be one on each side. The front panel will lift up slightly, and off, exposing the dryer interior.

Release the belt tension for the idler pulley near the drive motor and lift the drum (with the belt attached) out of the cabinet. You should now have full access the the burner assembly.

Go to searspartsdirect.com and type in the model number you provided. Look under the "Burner Assembly" heading for items 13 and 14. These are the gas valve solenoids you will need to replace. I don't know where the previous quote came from, but these solenoids do not cost any where near $200 dollars. It is highly recommended that you replace BOTH of them at the same time. The part numbers are 694539 and 694540.

NOTE: You can also find both these parts at appliancepartspros.com for much less. Use the part numbers I provided and use the "Search by Part Number" feature. I still referenced the Sears website, because they offer excellent exploded view diagrams you can use to assist you. I could not find your model number listed on the second site, but the part numbers are still available.

If you still have questions, please let me know. I hope you find this information helpful.

Where can I obtain Electrical Schematic details for my Kenmore dishwasher?

Hi Pepper
If Kenmore themselves don't have the Schematics then they may be hard to find. Usually manufacturers don't provide that sort of detail any more.
It's usually easier to use troubleshooting knowledge to figure out where the problem is.
A multimeter is necessary here. Or a test light or buzzer.
Find the solenoid attached to the water drain pipe.
See if it is being actuated electrically. If not then it would be traced back to a timer unit of some sort.
If it is getting voltage (being actuated) then the Diaphragm and Actuator inside the valve section should be disassembled and cleaned. Even tapping the solenoid can often open the valve.
Either way, you have to get inside to have a look and test wires with the voltmeter.
Good Luck

Kenmore washing machine model# 796. 5031. With washer in off mode. And cold water supply is opened. Water runs into drum without stopping.

Try unplugging the cold water solenoid wires. If it stops the solenoid is good, but timer is most likely bad.If it stays on, solenoid is stuck open, replace it.

Kenmore refrigerator side by side model 25358682890 cold water dispenser does not work. ice maker works.

Your fridge has a dual solenoid water valve - one side controls the water flow to the dispenser, the other to the ice maker. It's possible that one side burned out while the other is still good.

Here's a photo of what it looks like:

cgaither98_0.jpg

Here's a link to the replacement part:
http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-number/Kenmore-Parts/Refrigerator-Parts/218658000/0046/253/Model-25358682890/0582/0165000?keySuffixId=NA&productTypeId=x&searchModelNumber=25358682890&subCompDesc=Icemaker&brandDesc=KENMORE&modelDesc=Side-by-Side&blt=11

Before replacing the part, make sure the solenoid is in fact, bad. Get a voltmeter, and touch the probes to the electrical contacts on the solenoid, like so:
moz-screenshot-9.pngcgaither98_2.gif
If the meter barely moves, the solenoid is bad.

If both solenoids test out OK, the other possibility is that the water supply line is kinked or clogged. Also, if your water dispenser has a filter (also on the back of the fridge), it might be clogged. My money's on the solenoid, though.

Good luck, and if this helps, please my answer!
Also, thanks to Zenzoidman for the pics.

I have a Kenmore Gas dryer model 11072702101 gets hot does not spin

Hi, Problem here is that your belt either came off or is broken. To get to it, remove two screws at vent. Take a putty knife and press in on the front left and right sides just under the lid. Lift up and prop. You'll find two more screws at the top of the front on either side. Remove. Front will fall out to you and lift up. Remove doorswitch wires noting where they came off of. NOTE FIRST, UNPLUG THE DRYER! Belt part number is 341241 at $20.38. To install, belt around drum, lay down with flashlite. Belt goes around motor shaft. Pull idler pulley back put belt over it and release. Reinstall cab. way you took it off. Hope this helps.

Kenmore washer leaks water,

on the back of the machine there a two water inlet valves, these are electric solenoid valves and one of them is leaking.  You need to remove the back panel on the washer to replace this valve assembly.  It's a common easily obtained part.

If you have the model with a garbage disposal, more than likely the chopper assembly broke. It's a fairly straight forward fix. Sears part# 8268383.

Unit will not go into defrost cycle

I have the same problem. Have replaced all the other components. I am trying to get a new solenoid from Sears. They are out and are trying to figure out where they can get them. In the mean time take as much of it apart as you can. Clean mating surfaces with very fine emory cloth. Spray metal surfaces with WD40. Reassemble and put a small piece of duct tape on top of solenoid to keep water and condensate out. Unplug and replug solenoid in on pc board. I am just waiting now to see if this works.

Kenmore gas dryer

That model does not have a pilot light.  It has an electronic ignitor.  If it is not igniting, either the igniter is not getting a signal to ignite, the igniter is burned out, or the gas solenoid is broken.  Probably the igniter is burned out.  It is item number 3018 at RepairClinic.com.
