Question about Toshiba TP50F60/61 TV

1 Answer

No cable picture or sound

Tv will play dvd movies and video games beautifully, but that's it. Regular satellite tv is all snowy and no sound. Hooked up different tv and works fine so not satellite. Happened once before a week later worked fine. It's been 2 1/2 weeks now and I think it's not coming back. Any suggestions?

Only thing I can think of is for you to check your cables... assuming you are using a coaxial cable for the satelite and rca cables for games and dvds, I would recommend trying a different coaxial cable. There is also the chance that the coaxial connection on the tv itself is messed up. you may try buying an RF modulator that will convert coaxial to rca, most rf modulators convert rca to coax. so make sure it does what you need before you buy it. tech guys at store should be able to help if you can't figure it out.

37" PANASONIC plasma tv, turns on, sound is good, but picture is not good. cannot see anything, except horizontal lines and statis (all snowy).

Is your Receiver/Cable hooked up right ?
check that.
If that doesn't help try going in video mode and playing a dvd with a dvd-player hooked straight in to the composite [Red/Yellow/White] plugs. then check if you get a picture if you dont the problem is most likely in your Tv

Is this Tv new ? or did it just start happening ?

Please respond with more details

My RCA XL100 is hooked up to cable and works perfectly fine. We've had it for ages and the picture is clear, sound is beautiful, and it gets along fine with my universal remote. There's just one...

Some of their very old sets the video input was located on channels in the 90's; Try scrolling down from 99 to 90 to see if you locate the video input; this is just the way they did things in the older sets.

Before you rate this solution let me know what you find first.

  • 1 Check the power. Don't be embarrassed if your problem is as simple as an unplugged power cord. It's better that you should discover this than pay a repair technician to come out to your house and find out.
  • 2 Isolate the problem. The main troubles that will crop up with a TV set are either no picture, no sound or both.
  • 3 Check the input setting on your remote control. If you have other devices connected to the TV, such as a video game system, those devices must be used with a different input setting than the input you use for watching programs or movies on a DVD or Blu-Ray player. Chances are, the kids were playing a game and forgot to turn the input back the way it was.
  • 4 Press the Input button on your remote control to return to the setting you wish to use. For example, the cable box might be connected to Input 1 and your DVD player might be connected to Input 2. Newer television sets have at least 3 inputs.
  • 5 Check the coaxial connection from your cable or satellite receiver to the television. The cable should be attached securely by twisting the round lock nut clockwise. Also check the power connections for the satellite or cable receiver. If either is unplugged, you won't receive a programming signal on the TV.
  • 6 Make sure the video cable is securely attached to the TV jack if you have a home theater system. The video cable runs from the Video Out jack on your home theater receiver to the Video In jack on the back of your TV.
  • 7 Check your receiver setting. Home theater receivers manage several components, so if you have the receiver set to operate the CD player but you are trying to watch a movie on your Blu-Ray player, you'll need to change the selection to Blu-Ray to watch the movie on your TV.
  • 8 Check the TV speakers to see whether they have been muted by accident. Press the volume button on your remote control or go to the Menu section and scroll down until you reach TV Speakers. Toggle left or right to turn the speakers on or off.
  • 9 Press the speaker button on your receiver to make sure your external home theater speakers are activated. Many home theater systems use external for their superior audio rather than the speakers inside a television

Tv has only snowy screen. Used the remote to

What to do if you have an all snowy picture (blue screen or the TV displays unusable signal-no signal or no sync)
1 – If you are using a digital cable box or satellite receiver (make sure it’s on) and be sure your TV is set for either CH3 or CH4 (which ever you usually view it on). If you usually view it through video inputs (video1 or 2 etc.) make sure the appropriate input is selected.
If you still don’t get a signal see if you get picture using the DVD or VCR (if available) if you do than plug the satellite or Dig. Box temporarily into the place of the DVD (unplug DVD) you may have to use some A/V cables (RCA yel./red/wht like the ones on the DVD) to hook to the tv from the sat./dig. box. If you get a signal then the sat./dig box is ok. If not the Sat./dig box is not sending a signal and is either defective or needs to be rebooted (unplug wait 5 min try again).
2 – If you are using standard cable or antenna (source) if possible check that the source is good by connecting to another TV. Otherwise try running the source into a VCR and then out to the TV using video inputs (RCA yel./red/wht like the ones on the DVD) and then selecting the appropriate input. Try seeing if the VCR plays using standard CH3 (or CH4)
If the VCR plays on video input but not when connected to CH3 (CH4) then the tuner of the TV may be defective – see if you can use the VCR to change channel using the VCR remote.
Be sure to vote/rate me if this helped Thanks!

Samsung hlp4667 only get a picture with HD input.

is there anything else hooked up to your tv other than cable or satellite? if no other components (dvd, vhs, etc) then you will get a snowy screen because the other inputs are for other components that are hooked up. a picture is showing on the HD input because you have cables hooked into that input.

Could be an overheating issue.. Is there enough air circulation around the unit? Is it possibly dusty? try and perform minor servicing (use a can of compressed air incase if there's dust causing problems)

Does this happen on regular dvd's ?
