Re: ethernet not reconized
First there are 3 ways ethernet controllers are put into computers. On the mainboard, a plug in card, or USB. I am guessing that you are not using the USB.
First, pull the side cover off of the tower. If the network adapter is a part of the mainboard look at the model number on the mainboard and look it up through an internet search on another computer. Go to the manufacturers website and download the correct driver for your particular adapter. If the ethernet is a plug in card, you can remove it and look up the drivers by looking at the model on the card the same as described above. When you have downloaded the correct driver put it on a disc or a flash drive and then transfer it to the other computer then get that computer working and on the net again then finish downloading any other drivers or updates.
Another option is to purchase and install a new card, get hooked up to the internet then download whatever drivers you need for the rest of the mainboard by looking up the model number like above and then downloading and installing the correct drivers.
Just a suggestion. Since your doing all of this work, create a new folder on the desktop. Create sub-folders for each device you need a driver for (note: the display adapter may not seem to be installed incorrectly but make sure to install the manufacturers drivers not the generic Windows driver). When you find the downloads click on "save" instead of "run" when you download the drivers and download them to a sub-folder in the folder on the desktop. Put them into the subfolder for each of the drivers like "display" "Modem" etc. This way you will know what each driver was in case the download name doesnt indicate what each driver is for. Next you can save them to a flash drive or cd/dvd so if you ever have to reload again you dont have to find the drivers again. Let me know if you have a question. Hope this helps.

Download and Install Additional Account Info in ADS1. Download acctinfo in zip format [from the link below] or click here. 2. Copy acctinfo.dll to the %systemroot%\system32 folder 3. Register the service and dll with this command: regsvr32 acctinfo (Similar to registering the schema snap-in) 4. Close, then open Active Directory Users and Computers. 5. Look for an extra tab called Additional Account Info. Thats it!
Ok so on Safari, you can see your search bar up the top, to the right there should be a little picture of a book, then a picture of a cloud, then a addition sign. The picture of the book is History/bookmarks. If you click on it and it says bookmarks, just click the button in the top left of that menu to back out of there and then it should show 2 things that say either Favourites or History (Unless you have added folders etc)

I did not know you could do it either, but I never tried. I can see an instant work around...make them both ethernet. You surely have more than one RJ46 connection in the modem/router. I figure you had the one closest to the modem was the USB and the one further away way the ethernet cable. So like I said, they probably supplied you with a short e cable so just plug that in. Assuming of course you have an eithernet adapter in the computer closest to the modem. Try one thing first- plug them in the way you always did, unplug the modem for a minute and plug it back in and see if it detects them the way you had it set up...reboot each of the computers after that...if it is gonna work...this is the way. Hope this helps Tim, please leave rating, thank you kindly
Hi, If your son' s computer has a LAN port, then install the LAN driver.
LAN port is different from modem. Modem is used for dial-up connection
while LAN uses broadband or dsl connection. If you do not know where or
how to find the LAN driver, post the manufacturer and model name of
your LAN or the motherboard. You can also find it by right clicking the
My Computer icon->Manage->Device Manager. On the right side,
Expand the Network Adapter. You will then find the software that you
are going to reinstall. Another thing is to try to update the driver if
it works or not. Here are the steps :
Right click My Computer icon.
A box will appear (Computer Management), Click Device Manager
On the right side, Click and expand Network Adapters
Right click the software, click update driver.
Wait 'til it finds the necessary software.
If it does, then your finished installing the Network
Adapter driver. If it says it cannot find the necessary software, you
have to manually install it.
IF NOT yet installed, copy the Network Adapter software and paste it in google to find your Network Adapter installer.
I hope this fix your problem. Drop me a comment again if you encounter some problems, ok? I will assist you.
the reasons could be that the particular network connection has been disabled..go to my network places and right click on the connection and see if its disabled..another reason is that the ethernet driver is not installed..do check if both the lights at the ethenet port on your comp are flickering...
