The Ethernet is still can't use for WiFi so far,but it isn't not a problem for the WiFi connect matter because there is a Net Work card itself for most Laptop today including Dell Inspiron 1525 PC Notebook, it may be the Drive matter for the Net work system, you can update it ,or there is no WiFi Net work in your place obsolutely.
Hi! Please confirm that the phone line is good. If the line is faulty you can't access the internet. Please do check the phone line first. Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa!
When you use USB for networking the "Network" it is on is 10.10.0.1 or similar, Now the Ethernet is 168.192.0.1 or similar. You simply MUST enter the correct address if you wish to change anything. Use the Connect to the Internet wizard and ensure you choose correct net, address. & if you have two Nic's Ethernet & USB, you must make sure you choose right one too.
I'd suggest testing with another computer and the same Ethernet cable to your modem to see if the results are the same and to narrow down which component is the problem.
Was it always slow with this setup or did something change.
Is the Linksys adapter connected via USB ? That would be slower than an internal adapter.
please, i want to know how to solve this problem that my laptop is demanding for the updated driver for realtek adapter before i can be connected through wireless mode
ok i have herd of service pack 2 causing these problems, go to dell website , see if there are any service pack 2 fixes to download for your model laptop , or any updated drivers for your laptop , it does almost sound like a Harware problem , but i dont think thats the case , reinstaling xp may be the solution , start from scratch , and take note of what you install , as it maybe be some other software / programs causing this, it's also possible it is spyware or a virus causing this , spware doctor is a good program to use , you can download it for free and do a check , but u will need to buy it to clean the infections, unless u know how to pirate it, which i dont think im allowed to say ,
