The projector may be shutting down because it is overheating.
1. Are the air filters dirty? Most Sanyo Projectors have two filters that protect the
LCD screen from dust. Dusty buildings or simply grounds crews stirring up dust with
lawn equipment can clog filters fast. Clean filters.
2. Is the projector under or near an AC or Heating vent? Many projectors are installed
in the summer when the AC is on. When it gets cold and the heat kicks on, it can
shoot hot air at the projector causing it to overheat. Try blocking the heated air or
moving the projector.

. Filters should be cleaned every 3 to 6 weeks.
Your filters should be located on the top of the projector. To access the filters, lower the
Activboard to the ground. Locate the two, gray rectangles on the projector. Gently pull
the filters out of the projector. Gently clean the filters by blowing on them or use a soft
cloth to wipe the dust away. Insert the filters back into the projector when finished

I just replaced the lamp on my Sanyo PLC-XP55 projector and reset the lamp counter but now it won't turn on. When I press the power button, it goes into a cooling mode for 90 seconds and then never turns...

did you get the bulb from sanyo, or from another company that sells aftermarket bulbs? some of those are cheaply made and malfunction shortly after if they work at all. find your reciept, take it back and get a new one.

Projector turns off after 5 seconds

You have a classic temp sensor problem. Its a fail safe on theprojector, basically a fuse that bridges the main power cables. Lookslike a little pot, With a white ceramic head.
Now what it does, Is the white ceramic head rises as the unit getshotter, and thus breaks the power circut. All you need to do is, openup the unit, locate the sensor (its mounted next to the lamp on yourprojector) And push the little white head back down, thus closing thecircut, and restoring power supply.
Here is the full repair schematic to guide you. :)
